The Ettusais Aqua Splash is a handy mist that shields your skin from the harsh summer sun, and you can just sprintz over makeup for extra sun protection anytime of the day. Skin stays hydrated with ingredients like hyaluronic acid and rosemary extract, to create a veil on skin to prevent moisture loss. The spritz bottle makes reapplication a breeze, plus it doesn’t hurt that it refreshes the skin at the same time!

Good for high coverage

Aside from its UV protection, the L’Oréal Paris UV Perfect evens out skin tone, prepping it for makeup application. Double-duty goodness, we like!

Christopher Kane for NARS Collection

16 Apr 2015 by Arissa Ha

Having worked with NARS for London Fashion Week since 2012, it’s only natural that Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane collaborates with Francois Nars to launch a bold and vividly coloured collection – NEONEUTRAL.

“I often use neons as neutrals. They refresh and inspire.”

– Christopher Kane

This 10-piece collection is the first designer collaboration that extends beyond a single product group, comprising of lip glosses, eyeshadow, blusher and the Multiple in various iridescent hues and neon shades.

Christopher Kane for NARS Collection 2015

Q&A with Christopher Kane

Why did you decide to work with NARS?
NARS has been a long-standing and valued partner of ours, so this collaboration was an obvious fit. NARS has the same bold and creative aesthetic that is signature to the brand and I’m excited to share what we’ve created together.

Can you tell us about the colour palette for the collection? Are these signature Christopher Kane colours?
The color palette is based on artifacts brought together from our past collections, like our signature safety buckle and bolt fastenings. These artifacts naturally communicated three Christopher Kane color themes; our classic bold neons, our brand shade of nude and futuristic iridescence.

These colors are signatures of the brand and we wanted to represent that in the purest sense.

Tell us more about the final products you selected for the collection.
It is a full color collection featuring products for eyes, lips and cheeks and combines NARS’ iconic and bold beauty philosophy with our design aesthetic.

 Arcona Triad Pads S$44

Arcona Triad Pads (S$44)
We love products that simplify our beauty regimen, and the Arcona Triad Pads does just like that. Each pad (45 in a jar) removes make-up, cleanses and tones your face all at the same time! It’s formulated with cranberry extract to protect and clarify the skin and perfect for taking the day off after partying.

Skin Inc Hydrating Shield+ (S$68)
We believe it’s always best to start protecting your skin while it’s still firm and taut. The Skin Inc Hydrating Shield+ by Skin Inc is an all-in-one sunblock, moisturiser and anti-aging lotion which protects the skin from the harmful environment. Unlike most sunscreens, this one absorbs quickly, goes well underneath make-up and doesn’t streak foundation. It protects acne-prone skin without clogging, has anti-bacterial and soothing abilities to help reduce the redness and irritation caused by the sun.

Launch date: May

Tarte The Sculptor Double-Ended Contour & Highlighter (S$38)
If you didn’t know already, we love products that are easy to use! The Tarte Sculptor Double-Ended Contour & Highlighter has the matte bronzer on one end to define your facial features, while the other end has a highlighter shade that creates a soft dimension to balance your contoured look. Perfect for carrying around in your makeup pouch!

Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara (POA)
We are constantly looking for the perfect waterproof mascara and guess what, we’ve found it! We tried the Eyeko Sport Waterproof Mascara and true to its waterproof claim, it’s super easy to apply, clump-free and most importantly, survived our humid weather without smudging for the whole day. You can even use it as a coat on top of your regular lengthening or volumising mascara to prevent smudging as well. We are sold!

Urban Decay Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil (S$25)
If you’ve tried the Urban Decay Ozone 24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil and loved it, it’s time to rejoice as they are set to launch the thick barrelled Ultimate Ozone Multipurpose Primer Pencil! You can use it to fill in the fine lines around the eyes and even clean up mascara smudges. But we still prefer to use them on our lips where it holds the colour, prevents feathering, fills in the fine lines and is super moisturising.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick (S$32)
These Stila Liquid Lipsticks really stay, with up to 6 hours of continuous wear, with no touch up needed. The colour pay-off is great, doesn’t transfer, is bleed-proof and hydrating. It doesn’t hurt that it comes in the most delicious summer hues either!

With hormonal changes, stress and unhealthy diet, teens can expect an onslaught of skin problems like acne, eczema or dryness. We speak to the founder of First Aid Beauty Lilli Gordon for tips on starting your own skincare regimen (even if you’re a complete newbie!).

Before starting First Aid Beauty, Lilli Gordon faced persistent dryness and flaking on her forehead – skincare products she tried either didn’t work, or worse, sparked off allergic reactions. That’s when she decided to start First Aid Beauty, where products formulated are safe to use, even for sensitive skin.

“I just wanted to create products that people could have the confidence that their skin would tolerate even if they have sensitive skin – products that get your skin into a state of equilibrium. “

-Lilli Gordon, Founder of First Aid Beauty

From top left: Eye Duty Triple Remedy ($64), Eye Duty Triple Remedy Overnight Balm ($67), Skin Rescue Oil-Free Mattifying Gel ($54), Vitamin Hydrating Mist ($25)

Here are some beauty tips that Lilli shared with us:

Less Is More
You don’t need seven or 10 steps in your beauty regimen for beautiful skin. Find out what works for you – everybody’s skin is different so you could be using just three steps while your friend uses five.

Put On Sunscreen
Your skin might be taut and firm now, but the complacency might cause you some wrinkles a few years down the road. Wearing sunscreen everyday is very important especially with the weather in Singapore. The effects are not immediate (that’s what makes it scary!), but you’d be thankful when your skin is in a better shape than your peers who skip sunscreen after 20 years.

Basic Skincare Regimen
You really just need a good cleanser to clean your skin, a moisturiser to hydrate it and a sunscreen to protect your skin against UV damage.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Sleeping Cream, $67

Splurge on These
If you have extra cash to spare, Lilli suggests splurging it on a serum, eye cream or a night cream,  “I like the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra Firm Sleeping Cream($67),” quipped Lilli, “there are a lot of active ingredients in there so there isn’t any need to put on serums beforehand.”

First Aid Beauty is exclusively available at Sephora stores islandwide.
