This eyeshadow palette has garnered polarising reviews due to it having relatively similar shades – which might make branching out into different looks a tad difficult. That is not to say that it does not have its fair share of fans because people love it for its easy-to-blend formula as well as the fool-proof colour choices that are great for first timers. At an extremely affordable price tag (the cheapest in our list!), this palette definitely gives you plenty of bang for your buck.
The Body Shop Down To Earth Quad Eyeshadow, $36
Armed with rich, earthy shades that take you from a neutral day look to a gorgeous smoky eye at night, The Body Shop’s Down To Earth eyeshadow palette certainly lives up to its name. Enriched with skin-friendly babassu and sesame oils, colour payoff is beautiful and easily buildable. But because the pigments are super rich and concentrated, make sure you apply it with a light hand.
Catrice The Modern Matt Collection Eyeshadow Palette, $9.50While the hues on the Catrice eyeshadow palette isn’t as pigmented as the others on this list, that ironically makes it great for beginners as it allows you to layer on and build your eyeshadow gradually instead of messing around with strong colours. Not only that, the palette consists of neutral, matte shades that’ll fit right in with an everyday look.
Marc Jacobs Eye-Conic Multi-finish Eyeshadow Palette, $69
Each of Marc Jacobs’ eyeshadow palettes are absolutely versatile, with each rich shade taking you from day to night; casual to glam; subtle to sultry, in one swipe. There are four finishes included in this slim eyeshadow palette: buttery matte velvet, shimmering satin, sparkling silk and metallic lamé. To achieve the best effect, use it along with Marc Jacobs’ Coconut Eye Primer that is sure to make the colours on your eyes pop. Also, we’re a sucker for beautiful packaging, and Marc Jacobs definitely has that on point!
Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette, $83 –> Reader’s choice
The Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette won’t leave your eyelids bare, because it contains an intensely bold selection of smoking browns, reddish oranges, and sizzling hot Sienna shades that’ll making you feel like you’re on fire, literally. While strong colour-payoff is guaranteed, you might want to use an eyelid primer to help the shades exhibit their colours better and prevent patchiness and creasing. Urban Decay never fails to impress with their gorgeous palettes.
ZOEVA The Basic Moment Eyeshadow Palette, $42
With colours from innocent white to basic hues of beige and grey to glorious gold, the new Zoeva eyeshadow palette unveils a selection of nostalgic yet modern shades to achieve a range of timeless looks. The palette contains a great mix of matte, satin and metallic finishes that can easily create any look you desire. As with all Zoeva palettes, the quality is impressive. Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette, $82
Usually, matte eyeshadows would run the risk of being chalky but not for Tarte. The Tarte Tarteist PRO Amazonian Clay Palette nails their matte formulas, resulting it to be buttery and pigmented, setting nicely on the lids. The metallic shades are beautiful too, buttery and smooth- to-touch, with super impressive pigments. It is easy to see why people are smitten with Tarte’s eyeshadows because they are seriously worth the hype.
