From star-crossed romances to feel-good comedies to coming-of-age tales, we rounded up the most binge-worthy dramas to watch – or rewatch – right now.

While You Were Sleeping

Starring: Lee Jong Suk, Bae Suzy

What is it about? Happy-go-lucky journalist who has the ability to see unfortunate events in her dreams, meets tsundere prosecutor who tries to prevent her dreams from becoming reality.

Watch it if… you enjoy geeking out over complex plots and confusing timelines. Apart from our canon OTP, it’s also impossible not to love the chemistry between side couple Kim So Hyun and Kim Jae Ha (Page Turner feels, anybody?). Just be sure to prepare yourself for a bucketload of mascara tears.

Binge-watch on: ONE (Singtel TV Ch 513 & 604, StarHub TV Ch 124, 820 & 823), every Wednesday and Thursday at 9pm

Girls’ Generation 1979

Starring: Bona (Cosmic Girls), Chae Seo Jin, Seo Young Joo, Lee Jong Hyun (CNBLUE)

What is it about? Set in the 1970s, there’s your average high school girl who falls in love at first sight, the pretty transfer student who becomes the talk of the town, the typical class nerd with a non-so-secret crush, and the popular jock whom all the girls are whipped for.

Watch it if… your nostalgia-lovin’ hearts have a soft spot for girl-next-door romances, teenage angst and Daegu dialects. And you’ve got a new crop of fresh faces to watch out for, including Bona from up-and-coming girl group Cosmic Girls.

Binge-watch on: Viu

Age of Youth 2

Starring: Han Ye Ri, Han Seung Yeon, Park Eun Bin, Ji Woo, Choi Ah Ra

What is it about? Picking up where season one left off, follow the lives of five ordinary college students as they struggle with the growing pains of adolescence.

Watch it if… you enjoy slice-of-life fodder and sob stories with plenty of heart. Or if you’re like us and have grown attached to the Belle Epoque girls since the beginning, brace yourselves for yet another rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Binge-watch on: OnDemandKorea

Temperature of Love

Starring: Seo Hyun Jin, Yang Se Jong, Kim Jae Wook, Jo Bo Ah

What is it about? Love blooms on the web between an aspiring screenwriter and a Michelin-star chef, but can they keep the spark alive beyond their virtual dating room?

Watch it if… you’ve been itching for a reunion of the Doctor Romantic co-stars. Not to mention 40 solid episodes of eye candy in the form of leading man Yang Se Jong, actor-of-the-moment blessed with the looks and talent that could give even Park Bo Gum a run for his money.

Binge-watch on: ONE (Singtel TV Ch 513 & 604, StarHub TV Ch 124, 820 & 823), every Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.55pm

Because This Is My First Life

Starring: Lee Min Ki, Jung So Min, Kim Min Suk, Yoon Bomi (Apink)

What is it about? Two homeless single pringles – who aren’t quite ready to mingle – end up living under one roof. Housemate shenanigans and feline hijinks ensue.

Watch it if… you’re in the mood for some lighthearted romance with a side of slapstick. Bonus if you love all things furry. This also marks the actor’s first production since his return from the army, so that’s certainly something to look forward to.

Binge-watch on: Viu

Akdong Detectives

Starring: Kim Nam Joo (Apink), Ahn Hyung Seob, Yoo Seon Ho

What is it about? Female detective teams up with two genius high school kids to form the ultimate crime-solving dream team. Also known as Mischievous Detectives or Devil Inspector.

Watch it if… you’re in need of a good laugh yet still want to indulge your inner Sherlock. Or if you just can’t get enough of the Produce 101 boys and crave for some good ol’ bromance.

Binge-watch on: V Live

Keeping Up With The Headlines You Might've Missed

6 Oct 2017 by Bryan Yeong

From the Kardashian clan due to expand to new venues to catch your blockbusters, we bring you the latest headlines (you might’ve missed) to keep you in the loop.

The Kardashian Klan

Photo: US Weekly

The Kardashian family sure has a way of staying in the public eye – it’s no wonder that they recently celebrated their 10th year anniversary of their hit reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Kylie Jenner first made the headlines when news of her rumoured pregnancy broke. In between finding extended success with her Kylie Cosmetics line and TV show Life of Kylie, it’ll be interesting to see how the young beauty mogul will juggle her empire and motherhood. And what’s better than one pregnancy announcement? How ’bout two! Khloe Kardashian has also been revealed to be expecting child with boyfriend Tristan Thompson, due early 2018, a wish she has expressed for many years. Not forgetting that Kim also has a surrogate baby on the way, which makes a grand total of three new Kardashian members to add to the family next year! We’re calling it – Keeping Up With The Kardashians: The Next Generation will premiere in 2030.

Screen Kings

Rejoice Eastsiders! If you haven’t already heard, there’s a spankin’ new Golden Village at the reopened SingPost Centre Mall to check out, which even brags of a laser projection for sharper picture quality.  It comes just days after Cathay Cinema also announced a new screening complex at Parkway Parade, giving us more options for those impromptu movie plans.

Bad Rep For Influencers

The words ‘exposé’ and ‘Xiaxue’ are synonymous with each other, with the latter ruthlessly revealing embarrassing information of parties who’ve attempted to take her down previously. And on an otherwise typical Sunday recently, Xiaxue dropped a bombshell of a video, where she took to the almighty Internet to analyse which Singaporean bloggers and influencers ‘bought’ followers on Instagram via an analytical online app SocialBlade to surprising results. Watch for yourself, and guess what we’ve been randomly doing since then?

YouTube comedian Hirzi also shared his sensible insights on the influencer scene and gave his sound advice on the whole matter, which you can view below.

Gone Cha No More

For ardent Gong Cha fans, you have a reason to stop patronising other bubble tea brands come December, because the familiar taste we all know and love is back soon! Judging from the decals pasted at the new SingPost Centre Mall outlet undergoing renovation, it also indicates that it’ll be Singapore’s flagship store, meaning there’ll be more islandwide outlets to look forward to. We can’t wait to sneak in our milk teas into the new GV cinema to catch a flick!

The iOS Mess

Photo: Apple

Think twice before you upgrade your iOS for your phone. Apple users have took to social media to voice their displeasure at the smartphone’s latest system upgrade, which causes one or more of the following: faster battery drain, app crashes, frozen lock screen and weak Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections. A sly marketing ploy to get users to buy the new models iPhone 8 and iPhone X? Or sheer coincidence? You be the judge.

Amos Yee Granted Asylum

Notorious rebel Amos Yee’s patriotism (or lack thereof) is taking a further drift from Singapore, all the way to the USA. Despite being incarcerated for 8 months, it seems jail time has only made him even more headstrong on his pro-free speech views. The 18-year-old stepped out in Chicago recently a free man, with a firm goal in mind: “The plan is to make more and more videos. I came here to escape the horrible anti-free speech laws in Singapore. Now I can get back to work, get back to my life”, he told The Straits Times.

Here's Why Kim Myung Soo Is A Man Of Many Talents

3 Oct 2017 by Chew Hui Ling

When INFINITE’s L isn’t busting out synchronised moves in perfectly coordinated outfits with his fellow bandmates, the Korean heartthrob is busy flexing his acting muscles under his real name, Kim Myung Soo. But wait, is that all there is to the rising actor? Recently in town to promote his latest drama The Emperor: Owner of the Mask, the 25-year-old proved that he’s more than just an idol – turns out, he’s got some pretty impressive hidden talents to boot! Here’s what we found out during the two-hour fanmeeting.

#1 He’s obsessed with Singlish (Abuden?!)

INFINITE Kim Myung Soo Singlish

It has pretty much become a ritual for any K-pop idol who visits Singapore to take a stab at Singlish, but this cutie takes our colloquial slang up a notch. It started with the basic ”lah’ before morphing into a full-blown ‘abuden’ fest when the host taught him the term, which had fans tickled pink. “Okay I got it, I understand!” he exclaimed adorably in English, evidently amused after understanding the context and proceeding to plug his new favourite word whenever he could.

#2 Nobody can beat his fan service game.

INFINITE Kim Myung Soo Fanservice

After years of covering K-pop events, we can safely say that Kim Myung Soo tops the list when it comes to dishing out fan service. Don’t let the stoic image of his INFINITE alter-ego fool you though; the chap can be quite the charmer in real-life. During the games segment, four lucky fans were called up on stage to reenact scenes from The Emperor: Owner of the Mask – think back hugs, holding hands, etc. As if these moves weren’t intimate enough, he gave each of the girls a warm hug and gifted all of them autographed postcards (even though he was supposed to choose only one winner to receive the personalised gift). How do you not love him?

#3 His photography skills are on-point.

INFINITE Kim Myung Soo Photography

To say that we were impressed with his photography chops would be an understatement. Showing off his self-taken photographs around the world – from the beautiful sunset in Los Angeles to the breathtaking night scenery in New York – he shared a mandatory tourist shot of the Merlion and even included a snap of our traditional kaya toast, quipping that he actually purchased a few tubs of kaya jam to bring back home. But since fans have informed him that the Ya Kun outlet at Gangnam sells it, looks like he’ll be stocking up on his kaya stash pretty soon!

#4 He gives solid life advice.
(yes, even cat-related problems)

Have a problem? Kim Myung Soo is here. The actor held a counselling session with the fans, who were asked to write down their worries on a slip of paper prior to the fanmeeting. Three entries were chosen, to which he personally went up to the fans – literally leaping down the aisle just so he could be closer to them – to offer his two cents. “I usually have a lot of negative thoughts, but I think having a positive mind is important,” he assures one fan. “Never give up, because even if it’s not working 99 per cent of the time, there’s still a one per cent chance that it will happen.”

INFINITE Kim Myung Soo Counselling

Aside from human issues, he’s also adept at solving feline dilemmas. What does a fellow cat owner do when her own cat ignores her? As the bona fide cat whisperer of his very own Russian Blue named Byul, he advices her to “give him more love” before cutting the affection completely, so he might “be surprised and get excited the next time you approach him”. Will Myung Soo’s tip work? Only time will tail (sorry, we had to).

#5 Did we mention his flawless vocals?

INFINITE Kim Myung Soo Singing

We’ve always known him as the visual of the group, but his singing voice certainly deserve more recognition. Despite feeling under the weather and was even caught coughing several times, Myung Soo showed no signs of wavering and stayed on top of his vocal game. His melodic vocals were on full display as he sang the soundtracks of Reply 1988 (‘A Little Girl’) and The Emperor: Owner of the Mask (‘It’s Okay Even If It’s Not Me’), before ending the night with an emotional rendition of INFINITE’s ‘Love of My Life’.

By the end of it all, consider us smitten by his endless charms. It’s not often we come across such a genuine celebrity, and it’s even more heartening that he’s still humble as ever even though he’s already seven years into his career. Whether it’s INFINITE’s L or actor Kim Myung Soo, we wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavours!
