8 Moments From The 2017 Grammys You Can't Miss

13 Feb 2017 by Bryan Yeong

It was the duel of the divas as Adele and Beyonce went head to head for the Grammys 2017 crown (They both won in our books). We recap the best moments of the night that made us gasp, tear, and go “YASS” in unison.

Camila Cabello slaying her first solo red carpet debut

That’s our girl. The former Fifth Harmony member stepped out on the red carpet for the first time since her controversial departure, but Camila was all about slow-motioned hair flips and air kisses to make us forget that we’ll never get to watch ‘Work From Home’ with the full lineup again, and instead, anticipating more of her solo music.

Wait, what exactly is CeeLo Green?

Definitely the most head-scratching (and terrifying) red carpet appearance of the ceremony belonged to Gnarls Barkley’s CeeLo Green. Looking like a golden-glittered nightmare, it wasn’t long before viewers took to Twitter comparing his look to everything from a Ferrero Rocher to a plus-sized C-3PO from Star Wars

Look Ma, No Pants!

Upon being announced as winners for their first ever Grammy Award (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance – ‘Stressed Out’), Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots promptly dropped trou to collect their accolade – to the amusement of everyone. The duo further explained the reason for the stunt, recalling how they used to watch The Grammys in their skivvies together and made a pact to receive it that way should they ever win. Hey, dreams do come true!

Rihanna being… Rihanna

Cheers to the frickin’ weekend, she drink to that! While Riri sadly did not scoop up any wins for her incredible ANTI album and its trio of nominated singles, she certainly knew how to have a good time. Spotted in a shimmering orange top and armed with a diamond-encrusted flask, Rihanna was partying through the night to every performance and even mouthed a supportive “YAS B*TCH” to BFF Katy Perry.

Gaga is really killin’ it, huh? Following an acclaimed Super Bowl performance and dropping the ‘John Wayne’ video , Lady Gaga capped off her triumphant week collaborating with Metallica for a fiery performance of ‘Moth Into Flame’ (despite a microphone malfunction) – collectively unleashing her inner “Heavy Metal Lover” and our inner “Little Monsters”.

The Comeback We’ve Been Waiting For

Bringing her self-proclaimed brand of “purposeful pop”, Katy Perry made her debut performance of new single ‘Chained To The Rhythm’ by rockin’ the stage in a Tom Ford suit and freshly blonde locks. Reminding us all why we adore her, she even poked fun at herself by comparing her red carpet dress to a feather duster and placing a  💨 emoji to her butt in her Insta-Stories. Never change, Katy!

All Hail Queen B

Forget gravity! Forget doctor’s orders! Forget everything! Beyoncé showed up looking like the #flawless goddess she is – pregnancy in tow – and gave an astounding performance of ‘Love Drought’ and ‘Sandcastles’. And to further prove she can do no wrong, Queen B drew everyone’s breath away with a daredevil mid-air chair tilt that would make even the bravest quiver – and she’s the one expecting twins!

Adele Being “So Fetch”

Even if it’s not through her music, trust Adele to still make us cry! Adele is such a sweetheart that even Beyoncé shed a tear when the British songstress channelled her inner Cady Heron and broke off her Grammy for Album of the Year (for 25), to share it with Beyoncé. “I can’t possibly accept this award,” she said during her acceptance speech. “The Lemonade album was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and well thought-out and beautiful and soul-baring… we appreciate that. All of us artists here adore you. You are our light.” From one queen to another, a truly iconic moment for the history books.

‘Til next year!

Can Your Relationship Survive These Bizarre YouTube Challenges?

8 Feb 2017 by Johanna Teo

As someone wise once said, “A person’s true nature is revealed at times of adversity”. Well, it’s time to put your better half through the digital grind (and create highly interesting memories) with bizarre YouTube challenges that’ll help show you his/her true colours! Can your relationship stand the test?

Gargle The Song Challenge

Hone your communication skills by gargling your way to clarity.

The Yoga Challenge

Possibly YouTube’s sweetest couple, Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes take a spin on the Yoga challenge where they try their bodies at various seriously awkward yoga poses, to hilarious results. While it’s a little dangerous, the yoga challenge is a great way to test your teamwork (or lack thereof).

Brain Freeze Challenge

There’s just something about watching Ed Sheeran calmly answering questions wrongly while his friend freezes in the bath that has us convinced that this ginger ain’t the fluffy teddy bear everyone thinks he is. Either way, don’t offend your boy/girlfriend before doing this challenge.

The Pie Face Challenge

It’s pretty straightforward – purchase one of these devices (Single Player, Multiplayer), some whipped cream and hammer away. It’s gonna get pretty messy though, so this game is best played with a entirely bare face; the best ‘ice breaking’ game there is.

Bonus vid: Remember to hold on to your teeth!

Blindfolded Makeup Challenge

Oh hey it’s Lilly and Miranda! Do like these two did – slap on some blindfolds and go wild with your lipstick.

Try Not To Laugh Challenge

You can really tell someone’s personality through their humour, so saddle up and try not to laugh!

Smoothie Challenge

This game involves at least one game master, left over food, a blender and the best of your general knowledge. Each correct answer entitles you to dump ingredients into the concoction in preparation for whoever gets a wrong answer – nothing says ‘get to know you better’ like barfing on your boyfriend right?

The Whisper Challenge

As far as the list goes, this is a mild one. Simply load up your earphones and get to deciphering!

Mandatory disclaimer: The suggestions in this article are purely for entertainment purposes. Any resulting quarrels (or breakups) are not our fault. May the relationship odds be ever in your favour.

Did you take the test? Tag us online and tell us how it went!

Put These Movies On Your February To-Watch List

1 Feb 2017 by Germaine Cheah

2017 is going to be a big year for film, and the fun is truly kicking off in February. Ahead, we detail the highly-anticipated blockbusters that’ll be hitting our screens this month.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter

In Theatres: 02 February

Following the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, Alice (Milla Jovovich) is humanity’s last hope against the zombie apocalypse and must now return to where it all began – The Hive in Raccoon City – where Umbrella Corporation is preparing for its final strike against the remaining survivors. But now that she has been stripped of her superhuman abilities, Alice’s fight to save humanity from extinction in the sixth and final installment of the series will be her most difficult adventure yet.

The Founder

In Theatres: 09 February

The Founder chronicles the true story of Ray Kroc (Michael Keaton), an ambitious salesman who meets brothers Mac and Dick McDonald, at their self-started burger joint. After seeing high franchise potential in the outlet, he manages to gain full control over the business and eventually went on to create the billion dollar McDonald’s empire. Ever found yourself sitting in a McDonald’s outlet and wondering how it all began? Well, now’s your chance to find out!

The Lego Batman Movie

In Theatres: 09 February

What was that saying… “teamwork makes the dream work”? When trying to save Gotham City from a hostile takeover by The Joker (Zach Galifianakis), everyone’s favorite caped crusader (voiced by Will Arnett) will have to drop his preferred lone vigilante act and learn the importance of teamwork, enlisting the help of Gotham’s other masked allies, Robin (Michael Cera) and Batgirl (Rosario Dawson).

John Wick: Chapter 2

In Theatres: 16 February

Bound by a blood oath to a former associate, hitman John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is forced to get back in the game and finds himself in Rome where he faces off with some of the world’s most merciless killers. We have to admit that we were a little confused when we heard of a sequel to the 2014 hit, given that everything ended so nicely in the first film, but the action-packed teasers have got us all excited!

Jackie

In Theatres: 16 February

Following the shock assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Jackie is a gripping biopic that tells the tales of First Lady Jacqueline “Jackie” Kennedy (Natalie Portman) and the aftermath of her husband’s murder. Widely known for her elegance and grace in the public eye, the film is an intimate look at her struggles as she comes to terms with her grief while also trying to preserve her husband’s legacy amidst an immense media storm.

The Space Between Us

In Theatres: 16 February

Gardner Elliot (Asa Butterfield) has led quite the unconventional life – his mum died while giving birth to him, he has only ever met 14 people in his 16 years of existence, oh did we also mention he was the first human to be born on Mars? When he finally gets the chance to go to Earth, eager to find his real father and experience all the wonders of his home planet, Gardner embarks on an adventure with Tulsa (Britt Robertson) to discover where he belongs in the universe.

Hidden Figures

In Theatres: 23 February

Hidden Figures tells the phenomenal story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae) – three hardworking brilliant African-American women who were the brains behind the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, all the while dealing with racist and sexist comments by those around them.

We can’t wait to watch these films in the theatres, and we’re sure there is something on this list that you’ll enjoy too! Want to know what else you can watch, read and spin this month? Go grab your January issue of Teenage Magazine out on newsstands now!

6 Ways Goblin Should Have Really Ended (According To K-Drama Fans)

31 Jan 2017 by Chew Hui Ling

After 16 episodes of Goblin goodness, it’s a wrap for the mega K-phenomenon! Although the finale was (sorta) a happy ending for both Goblin/Euntak and Grim Reaper/Sunny, it was an utter sobfest that left all of us looking a little like:

Goblin

There were some who were satisfied with how things turned out; and others whom felt the loose ends weren’t tied up well enough; while the rest of us simply couldn’t get over our withdrawals. So we took to Twitter and found some of the best fan-created endings to fill that Goblin-shaped void in everyone’s hearts. Spoilers ahead!

#1 Some gender-bending sorcery?

Oh boy (no pun intended), now we’re taking K-romance to a brand new level. Euntak might’ve returned as your typical school girl, but we couldn’t help but imagine Kim Shin’s reaction to seeing Euntak’s reincarnated male form approaching him with a dandelion in hand. Pretty sure nothing will get in the way of ShinTak’s romance, but in all seriousness, this will probably never ever happen in the cliche-riddled world of Korean dramas. Do your thing, fanfiction writers!

#2 More gender-bending sorcery

Although it was revealed that Sunny’s the reincarnation of Kim Shin’s sister, Kim Sun, we’d like to thank Deokhwa for implanting the theory of Goblin being Grim Reaper’s oppa (dat cringe) in our heads. How awkwardly epic would it be if Deokhwa’s fantasies came true?

#3 Wherefore Art Thou, Deokhwa?

Speaking of Deokhwa (played by BTOB’s Yook Sung Jae), we were kinda bummed out that our beloved chaebol heir-turned-squishy butler to his Goblin samchon completely vanished into thin air 30 years later. Has he finally got all the credit cards he wanted and became a CEO? Or did our playboy eventually settle down with a family? No one knows, but this theory sure sounds legit. (Read: Goblin cast spotted at BTOB concert)

#4 A Euntak and Haesoo body swap?

Actually, no thank you. No offense to the writers of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, but pulling the dream card on Haesoo was an achingly predictable move and the poor girl was left all alone in modern day with nothing but flashbacks of the man she’d once loved. At least every human has a run of four lifespans in Goblin, which gives reincarnated Euntak (now on her second life) two more lives to spend with Shin. That doesn’t make it any less painful on our star-crossed lovers, but we’ll make do

#5 Angel Euntak gets her wings

Just when we thought we were spared from the heartache (for now), a cruel twist of fate saw our titular heroine throwing herself in front of a colliding truck to save a bus full of children, eventually succumbing to the hands of death. But if there’s ever an epilogue, we’re betting on Euntak becoming an angel after all the good deeds she’d done in her mortal lives – watching over the world alongside her ajusshi in eternity. If not, we seriously question all the angel references and foreshadowing scattered throughout the whole series…

#6 Meet Goblin’s real bride

The popularity of the bromance between Goblin and the Grim Reaper was inevitable thanks to their hilarious scenes and impeccable chemistry with each other. And there’s no doubt that an alternate universe romance between these immortal bros would be shipped to death. We’d picture the hopeless twosome nitpicking over each other’s outfits, sparing with antique silverware at the dinner table, and going grocery shopping (while looking totally delish doing the glamour walk) – this is the real #RelationshipGoals, sorry Euntak/Sunny!

Even Gong Yoo and Lee Dong Wook are going down with this ship!

Think Goblin’s over? Not quite yet – tvN will be releasing two more special episodes on 3 and 4 February, which will mostly include behind-the-scene cuts, bloopers and interviews. But we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some of the aforementioned scenarios to happen in an epilogue. Till then, check out the teaser clips below!
