K-pop hopefuls, here’s your chance to be part of Big Hit Entertainment and Source Music’s new girl group!

Following the massive success of their first ever boy group BTS, Big Hit Entertainment now has their eyes on the girl group scene – and is gearing up for more expansion plans to continue their quest for global domination. Just recently, the entertainment behemoth announced their acquisition of Source Music, which is home to K-pop girl group GFRIEND.

The two labels will be teaming up to hold a large-scale global audition in search of up-and-coming talents to form a new joint girl group, which is targeted to debut in 2021. While CEO Bang Si Hyuk will still be helming the overall production, CBO Min Hee Jin – the brainchild behind the visual concepts for Girls’ Generation, SHINee and f(x) – will also be coming onboard to take charge of the creative direction.

The global audition will be held in a total of 16 cities starting this October. It will begin in Los Angeles, New York City and Perth, before making its way to Singapore on 12 October. Other stops include Melbourne, Osaka, Sapporo, Taipei, Kaohsiung, Hanoi, Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh, as well as domestic regions in Korea such as Busan and Gwangju.
