Following their performance at HallyuPopFest last weekend, K-pop boy band PENTAGON announced that they will be coming back to Singapore with their first full concert in November as part of their PRISM World Tour!

Since skyrocketing to fame with their viral smash hit ‘Shine’, the Cube Entertainment nonet has quickly solidified their status as one of the rising K-pop acts to watch – spawning a string of equally infectious follow-up earworms such as ‘SHA LA LA’ and ‘Naughty Boy’. While fans who attended HallyuPopFest had the chance to watch them perform live renditions of these crowd-pleasing tracks, we can’t wait for them to showcase their discography in its full glory at their very own solo concert.

After wrapping up two successful shows in Seoul back in April, the group is set to bring their tour all the way to North and South America before returning to Asia to meet regional fans. The final stop of their tour is slated to be held in Singapore on 2 November at The Star Theatre.

There are plenty of reasons to rave about this year’s installment of HallyuPopFest 2019 – just its sheer roster of acts alone is enough to make you ditch all your plans to attend this blockbuster fest. From power players like Super Junior and Winner, to up-and-comers like (G)I-DLE, KARD and N.Flying, we were treated to two days of wholesome K-pop goodness on 25 and 26 May 2019 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Missed out on the action? Fret not – here’s the lowdown of what went on during the adrenaline-fuelled weekend.

DAY 1

N.FLYING

First up to hit the stage was N.Flying, who kicked off the evening concert with energetic rock anthems such as ‘How R U Today’, ‘Say Goodbye’ and their sleeper hit ‘Rooftop’, before winding it down with a special rendition of ‘Spring Memories’. Despite this being their first time performing in Singapore, the four-piece showed no signs of nervousness as they drew in the crowd with their infectious energy.

OH MY GIRL

Known for their delicate tunes and girl-next-door charms, the girls of Oh My Girl dazzled with their melodious performances of ‘The Fifth Season’, ‘Liar Liar’ and ‘Secret Garden’. But what really stood out to us was that almost all of the members were using handheld mics, wowing the audience with their live vocal chops while flawlessly busting out the dance moves. No lip-syncing at all!

NUEST

The loudest screams of the night were evidently reserved for NU’EST, who took over the stage with the throwback hit ‘Hello’ – officially marking their long-awaited return to Singapore as a quintet. With Minhyun back in the team after his temporary stint in Wanna One, the five-member group showed off their never-changing chemistry as they revived some of their older jams such as ‘Love Paint’ and ‘Look’. We can’t wait for their full concert in August!

HYOLYN

Formerly a member of popular girl group SISTAR, Hyolyn proved that she was more than capable of holding her own as a one-woman band. After bringing the house down with a couple of her solo tracks, the powerhouse vocalist also delighted longtime SISTAR fans with a medley of familiar tunes including ‘Ma Boy’ and ‘Shake It’.

WINNER

If there’s one thing that could be said about Winner, it’s that they certainly knew a thing or two about putting on a show – the party was just getting started at this point! Although there were some slight technical mishaps here and there, it didn’t stop the quartet from slaying their set which consisted of all their biggest hits like ‘Everyday’, ‘Really Really’ and ‘Ah Yeah’.

Day 2

(G)I-DLE

One of the hottest rising rookies in the K-pop game right now, (G)I-DLE has since skyrocketed to popularity with their girl crush concept and charismatic stage presence. Their debut performance here was nothing short of spectacular, as the girls went on to charm fans with their definitive tracks ‘Latata’, ‘Hann’ and ‘Senorita’.

KARD

Leave it to KARD to bring the atmosphere to a new high as they bursted onto the stage with their signature dancefloor bangers ‘Oh NaNa’, ‘Don’t Recall’ and ‘Hola Hola’. Ending their set on an explosive note, the foursome wasted no time in getting the crowd up on their feet with a rousing performance of their latest earworm ‘Bomb Bomb’.

PENTAGON

There was just something about watching all nine members of Pentagon dance in perfect synchronisation that made their performance all the more impressive. As they went on to deliver crowd-pleasers ‘Critical Beauty’, ‘Naughty Boy’ and ‘Shine’, it became clear that these guys knew how to have fun on stage – and it’s safe to say we enjoyed it just as much.

MONSTA X

Following Pentagon, the hot-blooded lads of Monsta X made a powerful entrance to rapturous cheers from Monbebes as they performed their monster hits ‘Jealousy’, ‘DRAMARAMA’ and ‘Alligator’. But the highlight of the night was when Wonho took off his jacket midway through their set, revealing a mesh tank top underneath that sent fans into a tizzy.

Super Junior

Make way for the legends! ELFs were out in full force for Super Junior, transforming the stadium into a gorgeous sea of blue that welcomed the group. The K-pop hit machine closed out strong with album classics ‘Sorry Sorry’, ‘Bonamana’ and the fan-favourite ‘Miracle’ alongside solo/unit songs from Yesung, Ryeowook and Super Junior D&E. Even though they were down to six members for this time round, Super Junior proved they still had it as they effortlessly powered through their set while entertaining the crowd with their trademark banter. Leeteuk also revealed that they will be making a comeback as a full group during the later half of the year, as well as plans to embark on their upcoming concert tour. Who’s ready for SS8?

Bonus!

That hilarious wardrobe clash moment when Super Junior’s Donghae pointed out that Shindong was wearing the same top as KARD’s J.Seph.

KARD’s BM being a huge mood when he met up with Monsta X’s Wonho and Shownu at the gym. The reunion of the ‘Big Tiddie Community’!

Did you know that (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi is a major fan of Ryeowook? According to this fansite, Yuqi was too shy to interact with the Super Junior member so she asked the fan to take photos of him for her instead. K-pop stars, they’re just like us after all!

What a weekend! Check out the red carpet highlights if you haven’t or recap last year’s HallyuPopFest here. Till next year!

A wild Eunhyuk appeared! Much like a rare Pokemon sighting, the Super Junior member was discovered out and about in Singapore for the past two days after concluding his HallyuPopFest set on 26 May.

For those who attended HallyuPopFest over the weekend, you’d have known that Eunhyuk’s solo trip wasn’t a spontaneous one. While the other members had to return to Seoul due to their schedules, the 33-year-old made the decision to stay on for two more days, as exposed by fellow member Leeteuk. He also cheekily asked ELFs to be Eunhyuk’s tour guide, which we’re pretty sure fans wouldn’t mind.

So what exactly did he got up to? On the first day, the K-pop star posted mandatory tourist shots of himself sightseeing around our iconic landmarks – from Padang all the way to Clarke Quay, and even hopping on a duck tour along Singapore River.

However, what really amazed us was how he got around. Instead of opting for private car service, he chose to take our humble public transport just like any other Singaporean would. Dressed in a simple T-shirt, a bucket hat and a disposable mask, Eunhyuk then uploaded a series of proof shots to document his journey – including a selfie onboard a seemingly empty double-decker bus, and a picture of himself waiting for the MRT at the Promenade station.

He didn’t go completely unnoticed though; eagle-eyed fans also spotted him hitting the streets of Orchard Road on the same day.

The next day, Eunhyuk uploaded more photos of the breathtaking city skyline at Marina Bay Sands, followed by a picture of him posing at the Sentosa Merlion Tower with the caption “Walao eh”.

Held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on 25 and 26 May, HallyuPopFest 2019 kicked off to a spectacular start with the likes of Super Junior, Winner and MONSTA X gracing the occasion.

And while we couldn’t help but anticipate the performances during the evening concerts (check out our full coverage here!), it was really the red carpet that we were looking forward to the most. With the biggest K-pop names all in one place, one can certainly expect a whole lot of sartorial eye candy and killer looks to come.

But beyond the style front, this year’s red carpet also delivered an abundance of iconic moments that had fellow stans on Twitter buzzing throughout the weekend. From WINNER’s mad fan service antics to Super Junior’s chaotic entrance, we rounded up the standout highlights on the red carpet.

#1 Can we talk about A.C.E Byeongkwan’s crop top?

HallyuPopFest 2019 ACE

All decked out in striking red ensembles, A.C.E heated up the red carpet with their sizzling looks – but our eyes were on Byeongkwan, who was rocking a crop top that flaunted his sculpted pecs. As if his outfit wasn’t enough to win us over, the talented dancer then proceeded to send fans into a tizzy by showing off his sharp moves to their latest track ‘Under Cover’. Excuse you, sir!

#2 Meet the “2IDIOTS” of N.Flying

HallyuPopFest 2019 N.Flying

Despite the scorching weather, the boys of N.Flying were in high spirits as they greeted fans with wide smiles. After answering a barrage of media questions, members Jaehyun and Chahun were asked about their YouTube channel “2IDIOTS” – and the duo didn’t hesitate to showcase their comedic antics on the red carpet stage. Guess who just earned themselves a new subscriber? Hit ’em up if you haven’t already!

#3 NU’EST Ren killing it with the killing part of ‘Bet Bet’

HallyuPopFest 2019 NUEST

Screams were through the roof for NU’EST – one of the most anticipated acts of the night – as it marked their return to Singapore as OT5 with Minhyun rejoining the group after his temporary stint in Wanna One. Having recently made their comeback with ‘BET BET’, the members gave a teaser of their performance by getting Ren to show off the ‘killing part’ of the song. Let’s just say he KILLED it.

#4 Make way for the fan service kings, Winner

HallyuPopFest 2019 Winner

The last act to take the red carpet stage on Day 1 was Winner, and they certainly made the wait worth it. Besides treating fans to a snippet of their latest bop ‘AH YEAH’, the quartet had no qualms dishing out tons of fan service on their way out – pausing to collect flowers, pose for selfies and even signed a couple of autographs for some lucky Inner Circles. Swoon!

#5 A Kanto X NU’EST collaboration? Yes please!

HallyuPopFest 2019 Kanto

If you find Kanto familiar, chances are you’d have seen him on survival reality shows like Show Me The Money and The Unit. Talking about artistes he wish to collaborate with, the rapper expressed his desire to work with NU’EST’s Baekho as well as fellow The Unit pals Jun and Chan from A.C.E in the future. Make it happen, Kanto!

#6 What if KARD’s J.Seph and Jiwoo switched parts?

HallyuPopFest 2019 KARD

We all know that BM and J.Seph are incredible rappers, while Somin and Jiwoo have stellar vocal chops to boot – but J.Seph certainly doesn’t lose out in the singing department (err, sorta?). When asked which member’s parts he’d like to swap with in their recent single ‘Bomb Bomb’, he pointed out Jiwoo and even gamely took a shot at singing her lines, causing the other three to burst out in laughter at his hilarious but commendable attempt.

#7 More mukbang shenanigans from MONSTA X Shownu

HallyuPopFest 2019 MONSTA X

If you’re a Monbebe worth your salt, you’d have known that leader Shownu has recently launched his own mukbang show, Om Nom Nom Nom X. And it turned out we weren’t the only ones who wanted to watch him try local food in a future episode – Shownu himself also mentioned that he’d love to film a Singapore special if given the opportunity. Stay tuned!

#8 OG K-pop legends Super Junior have arrived!

HallyuPopFest 2019 Super Junior

We can always count on Super Junior to bring on the laughter in any situation – their red carpet appearance was no exception. The septet had the crowd in stitches when they repeated their signature intro “Urineun Super Juni– OEO” (which translates to “We are Super Junior”) every single time they turned to pose for photos. They did it for a total of five times. Yes, we counted.

Among the celebrities present, they were undeniably the most comfortable in front of the media – and it’s something that definitely comes naturally with experience. The secret to their camaraderie? “[It’s because] we think of ourselves and our fans as family,” the 14-year-old veteran group explained.

Even though only six members came for HallyuPopFest, Leeteuk dropped a major hint that they will be back in full force as a complete group (presumably for SS8) now that maknae Kyuhyun has returned from the army. ELFs, rejoice!

The wait is over: K-pop boy band NU’EST will be making their return to Singapore for their upcoming “Segno” concert tour this August!

Evidently, a lot has happened since then. Despite debuting back in 2012, it wasn’t until two years ago that they finally had their big break, thanks to their hugely successful stint on Produce 101 – Minhyun went on to promote as part of Wanna One, while the rest of the members continued to release music under the sub-unit NU’EST W. Following the disbandment of Wanna One last year, fans have been eagerly anticipating the return of NU’EST as a complete group (welcome back, Minhyun!).

There’s plenty to celebrate: after making their long-awaited comeback with their sixth EP Happily Ever After (which gave them their virgin music show win as OT5 with their latest track ‘BET BET’), the boys of NU’EST also held their first ever solo concert in Korea in April, which took place over three days with a sold-out crowd of 36,000. And now, they are taking their tour on the road with dates announced for Bangkok, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei and of course, Singapore.

The group last performed in Singapore for a small-scale showcase at the Kallang Theatre back in 2013. Just this weekend, NU’EST was here as one of the headlining acts for HallyuPopFest 2019 which was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium – and member Aron gave a spoiler that they will be coming back to this exact venue “very soon”. Guess we all know what that hint is all about now: a full-fledged “Segno” concert is coming our way!

Singapore L.O.Λ.E, it’s time to mark you calendars:
