When it comes to street dance performances, there are 3 main components that’ll impress any audience right off the bat: a sick choreography, fierce attitudes and killer threads. And any dance crew worth their salt would know the importance of gearing up – it speaks volumes about your squad even before you’ve executed a move, and might even serve to intimidate your swag-less opponents. Looking for outfit inspirations in time for your next dance competition? Look no further.

Every Colour Of The Rainbow

A prime example of how you can use your outfits to amp up an unexpected mood, Quest Crew – the all-time champions of America’s Best Dance Crew Season 8 – brings on a visual explosion that mirrors the peppiness of their song choice, ‘Shut Up and Dance’ by Walk The Moon.

Attack Of The Clones

A post shared by Jabbawockeez (@jabbawockeez) on

Ever wondered why JabbaWocKeeZ dons their signature white masks and freaky clone-like outfits? More than a method of helping the crew stand out amongst their competitors, their carbon copy looks were specially curated to allow the focus to be on each dancer and their moves. Like how these world famous dancers balance their simple yet incredibly intricate choreographies, sometimes it’s easier to showcase your dancing chops without having to slip into loud ensembles.

Camo-Up!

Having performed with the likes of BIG BANG, CL and Justin Bieber, this all-female crew is as bad ass as it gets. We love their tough-as-nails get-up – camo cropped top, knee-length bermudas and high-cut sneakers – which totally goes to show that you don’t need to wear revealing attire to look totally baller!

Hip hop’s Finest

Intentionally baggy sweatshirts, bandana/cap hair accessories and sneakers galore – the EAST2WEST ladies bring their hip hop-influenced styles into their version of BTS’ Not Today, looking totally fierce while at it. If Singapore’s weather is too hot, we suggest a ripped oversized top in place of the sweatshirts, and denim cut-offs.

Denim Nation

Clad in denim, the AO Crew keeps it stylishly casual for their cover of GOT7’s ‘Hard Carry’. This outfit is perhaps the most practical – we can definitely see the members strutting off stage and onto the streets!

Jackets all round

Keeping to a minimalist all-black ensemble, the Koreos squad’s matching bomber jackets are all it takes to bring their outfits from ‘blah’ to ‘boomz’. Plus it’s also a great way to save money ’cause you’ll technically only be shelling out for your outerwear – an essential for dance crews on a shoestring budget.

Feeling inspired? It’s time to bust those moves and show the world what you’re made of! And the upcoming Teenage Dance Challenge is the perfect platform to start. Round up your dance crew (and those cool outfits) and signup today!

7 Ways To Style Your Sneakers Outside Of The Gym

24 May 2017 by Teenage

Statement sneakers are having a huge moment and with summer’s arrival, they’re geared to be the main kicks on everyone’s feet (and yours). Wanna know how to style your sneakers into a versatile summer wardrobe staple? Here are 7 outfit inspirations featuring our stylish Teenage Gorgeous You! 2017 finalists!

Chloe (@chhloe)

TGY-x-Skecher's-Chloe

Gone are the days where sneaker and skirt combos were a fashion don’t. Keeping to a monochrome palette, Chloe pairs her Skecher’s D’Lites 2 with a sleek printed metallic mini skirt and black sleeveless high-neck top, looking equal parts sporty, polished and chic.

Vivien (@veeeyeo)

TGY-Vivien

On trend and perfect for the summer, Vivien pairs her pink Skecher’s D’Lites 2 with a white top, frayed denim skirt (featuring red and white stripes running down each side) and a red ’90s inspired canvas belt.

Don (@donnygao)

Don-TGY

Don pulls together a classic pairing: a heather-grey/maroon jacket over a plain white T-shirt, with dark grey sweats rolled at the cuffs – allowing his ankles to peek through. Top the look off with a baseball cap.

Amyn (@amynosaurus)

TGY-Amyn

The go-to combination for days where you’re running late, Amyn threw on a white top and denim skinny jeans, completing the look with his grey and white Skecher’s D’Lites 2.

Joyce (@jwanting)

TGY-Wanting

’90s fashion trends are out in full force with Joyce’s denim overall and sneaker outfit. An easy way to look put together while keeping it totally casual, Joyce is totally cool for the summer.

Tyler (@tylomere)

TGY-Tyler

Whether you’re heading out for a jog or simply embodying that whole athleisure look, take a leaf outta Tyler’s stylebook with a fitted shirt, slouchy sweatpants and of course, a pair of Skecher’s D’Lites 2.

Jessica (@jessicatanx)

TGY-Jessica

Slipping into a form-fitting ’90s striped top and denim black shorts, Jessica’s outfit will take you anywhere: from school to the streets, to even the beach (literally). Her Skecher’s D’Lites 2 in pink brings playful colour to an otherwise dark outfit.

Grunge Is Not Dead

A little something for those who aren’t that used to such a cheerful colour palette, you’d be glad to know that the whole ‘grunge-y’ look is still very much in trend. If you’re not into the whole ‘Courtney Love’ look though, skip the leather jackets and obscure band tees and slip into a sleeker silhouette instead.
