Landed your first job? As much as it’s important to get all the administrative stuff out of the way, it’s also time to start building your professional wardrobe – because one gotta look their best even when they’re on the clock. Instead of the usual fast-fashion retailers most people would usually go for, why not switch things up with some homegrown threads? From office-ready staples to elevated basics, give your corporate wear a stylish upgrade with these local fashion labels that showcase your unique personality!

Nothing fits more perfectly than a well-tailored suit that is completely made-to-measure. With the idea of producing bespoke wear that are not easily available off the rack, sisters Olivia and Amanda Lin strive to deliver timeless apparel for both men and women that are suited for any occasion. Though it can be a tad costly to have a spiffy new shirt (approximately $220) or an exquisite blazer (approximately $400) made just for you, the idea of a custom-made outfit should be enough to warrant an appointment at Inventory.

For the modern girls with a penchant for contemporary pieces, Qlothe (pronounced as ‘klo-they’) might just be what you seek. Helmed by male founder Elvynd, this independent label crafts thoughtfully designed clothing that are equal parts chic and meaningful – such as the Audrina Pleated Skirt ($45) and Estelle Wrap Dress ($69). In an effort to reduce the brand’s carbon footprint, sustainability is at the heart of what they do, whether it’s through sourcing for ethical fabrics or improving the welfare of the people they work with. Who says you can’t do your part for the environment while shopping?

Founded by young designer Bessie Ye, Rye is a Singapore-based womenswear label that’s all about minimalism and sophistication without breaking the bank. Their philosophy? Less is more, which results in a tightly edited collection of pared-down, everyday staples like the Pinafore Jumpsuit ($189) and Cupro Drawstring Flared Pants ($159) that will work hard in your wardrobe without going out of style.

Launched by award-winning designer Larry Peh in 2014, Faculty is borne out of the desire to deliver classic menswear that is manufactured with the highest level of craftsmanship. Their items are designed with functionality in mind without compromising on the aesthetics – think simple cuts and quality fabrics with a punch of bold detailing. Take their best-selling White Club Oxford Shirt ($355) for instance, which features a pair of larger cuffs as well as a deeper patch pocket to accommodate daily accessories.

Our Second Nature

Founded in 2017 by power duo Lauren Tan and Velda Tan, Our Second Nature is a womenswear brand that embodies artsy prints as part of its brand image. Unlike traditional brands in the market, their items are inspired by everyday moments in life which sets the theme for each capsule. Their latest collection ‘Trail’ includes pieces like the Trail Overlap Midi Skirt ($89) and Square-Neck Maxi Dress ($109), which are aptly designed to take you from work to play.

The Shirt Bar

From classic formals to unique casuals, The Shirt Bar provides a comprehensive range of quality menswear that allows you to showcase your individuality in and out of the boardroom. Unlike their mass-produced counterparts, they pride themselves on specially engineered shirts such as the TF White Checks SC Spill Resist Shirt ($149), which is designed with technologically advanced finishing that lets you easily wipe off any liquids that spill onto your shirts – no more embarrassing coffee spills!

Here's Your First Look At The New UNIQLO X BT21 Collaboration, Dropping On 21 June!

14 Jun 2019 by Chew Hui Ling

After weeks of rumours on a possible tie-up with BT21, the Japanese global retailer has finally confirmed the news in an Instagram post earlier this morning: the collaboration of every ARMY’s dream is officially happening!

Since earlier this year, UNIQLO has been going full steam ahead with a smorgasbord of new collaborations launched every other day – the latest additions to its lineup being the Pixar Vacation UT Collection and the Manga UT Collection – and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon. Finally, there’s something for the K-pop fans: a whole new collection dedicated to the iconic characters of BT21.

BT21 is no stranger to collabs either. Created by K-pop supergroup BTS in partnership with LINE Friends, these lovable icons (Chimmy, Cooky, Koya, Mang, RJ, Shooky and Tata) have since teamed up with the likes of Anti Social Social Club, :CHOCOOLATE and Converse to launch a series of oh-so-adorable collectibles ranging from apparel to footwear to cosmetics. Thus, it’s of no surprise that UNIQLO decided to jump onto the bandwagon.

The first project to be unveiled as part of a new LINE FRIENDS collaboration, the range features a total of 11 designs across 12 colours – and we think they may just give KAWS a run for their money. Bad news for scalpers though; UNIQLO has implemented restrictions for each customer to only purchase only one piece per UT design and colour. Brace yourselves for the T-shirt war!

Scroll through the gallery to check out the full collection!

The UNIQLO X BT21 UT Collection will be available at all UNIQLO stores and on UNIQLO.COM from 21 June 2019.

UNIQLO Launches A New Line Of Pokemon T-Shirts, Available In Singapore From 24 June!

23 May 2019 by Chew Hui Ling

It seems like the Pokemon frenzy is still going strong!

Thanks to the recent box office success of Detective Pikachu – which unknowingly ignited a renewed love for the furry yellow sleuth in Pokemon fans old and new – it’s of no surprise we’re getting news of merchandise drops every other day. Well, the inner Ash Ketchum wannabe in us certainly ain’t complaining, and if anything, this just gives us more reason to buy ’em all.

The latest name to join forces with the mega franchise is UNIQLO, who will be launching a new line of Pokemon-themed graphic tees featuring award-winning designs from its annual UT Grand Prix contest. Over 18,000 entries from fans all over the world were submitted, but only 22 shortlisted designs will make their debut on UNIQLO aisles.

Nabbing the top prize is China’s Li Wen Pei, who designed his Gyarados-inspired shirt using the “totem style” to portray its “evolution from weakness to mightiness”. However, he was later disqualified. Other notable designs include a Pikachu chilling under the tree (in this case, an Exeggutor), a Ditto in soda form, and Team Rocket trying to catch a Pikachu doll in a claw machine. How can you resist not getting these adorable tees?

Scroll through the gallery to check out some of our personal favourites!

The UNIQLO UT Grand Prix 2019 T-Shirts, retailing at $19.90 for men/women sizes and $14.90 for kid sizes, will be available at all UNIQLO stores and from 24 June 2019.
