While it has already been a few months since Jewel Changi Airport’s grand opening, it seems that the mall has more in-store for visitors in its second wave of retail openings. If that doesn’t motivate you to make the trip down, perhaps these three new fashion concept stores might do the trick.

If you’re a huge fan of FILA, then you’re going to want to visit this Jewel outlet which is known as the largest store in Singapore. Spanning across three shop units, the 2,730 square feet space features an extensive collection of four FILA selections – namely the FILA White Line, FILA Originale, FILA X 3.1 Phillip Lim and FILA Red Line. It also houses their sub-brand FILA FUSION, which incorporates retro and trendy elements into its trademark streetwear designs. In addition to that, the store also carries exclusive merchandise featuring Singapore’s city skyline, complete with our iconic Merlion and Singapore Flyer.

FILA is located at #02-220/222.

As South East Asia’s first and largest brand experience store at Jewel, Skechers aims to create an all-rounded shopping experience in their new duplex retail space, which boasts a wide array of products across both footwear and apparel as well as a customisation zone. This Jewel-exclusive in-store feature lets shoppers personalise their new pair of Skechers shoes or apparel using embroidery (available for selected models) or heat press for their choice of design or initials in their favourite colours.

Skechers is located at #02-201.

Having taken Singapore by storm since their arrival here in 2015, Japanese brand Anello has finally opened their first ever brick-and-mortar store outside of Japan. As opposed to the limited selection that our local department stores carry, the Jewel store houses an extensive collection of designs that includes those from the exclusive EXPAND series – which are made with long-lasting water repellent nylon fabric and waterproof zipper – and limited edition collections hailing from their Osaka flagship store.

Anello is located at #B1-275.

The New Converse Renew Sneakers Are Made From Plastic Bottles

17 Jul 2019 by Chew Hui Ling

We all know that plastics are bad for the environment (no, we don’t mean the Mean Girls), but are we doing enough to tackle the problem? Fortunately, it seems like Converse has found a way to be sustainable and fashionable at the same time. In an attempt to adopt more eco-conscious practices, the footwear label is taking a bold step towards reducing plastic waste with its new Renew Initiative.

Looking to breathe new life into waste, the sneaker giant has unveiled three updated versions of their iconic Chuck Taylor kicks: Renew Canvas, Renew Denim and Renew Cotton. Featuring the classic All Stars and Chuck 70s, the Renew Canvas line is crafted with 100 percent recycled polyester from single-use plastic bottles – all while retaining the original look and feel of the traditional canvas silhouette.

Although not available in the market yet, the Renew Denim models are said to be made with upcycled denim sourced from landfills, while the Renew Cotton range will combine cotton canvas waste from manufacturing with polyester to form a new yarn. With this new process, you get an upper that’s made with 40 percent recycled cotton.

The Renew Denim and Renew Cotton packs are slated to drop in August and early 2020 respectively.

Peep the selection of Converse Renew Canvas in the gallery above. Shop the full collection at ION, Takashimaya Shopping Centre, Tampines Mall and Changi Airport 2 Converse boutique stores.

For the modern girls with a penchant for contemporary pieces, Qlothe (pronounced as ‘klo-they’) might just be what you seek. Helmed by male founder Elvynd, this independent label crafts thoughtfully designed clothing that are equal parts chic and meaningful – such as the Audrina Pleated Skirt ($45) and Estelle Wrap Dress ($69).
