Sneakerheads alert! Popular footwear and apparel retailer JD, known as the ‘Undisputed King of Trainers’, has finally made its way to our sunny island with its highly-anticipated debut at Jurong Point Shopping Centre.

JD Singapore Jurong Point

Spanning a whopping 2,900 square feet, the first ever JD outlet in Singapore is filled with racks of accessories and sneakers from over 10 cult brands including adidas, Nike, Puma, New Balance, Reebok and more. The store is split into four sections – men, women, junior and kids – so there’s bound to be something for everyone. But what makes this spot a major steal is that fellow hypebeasts and baes are able to get their hands on exclusive models that they can’t easily cop anywhere else. Just look out for the kicks that are tagged with ‘Only at JD’!

JD Singapore

If you find Jurong a little too far, fret not – watch out for the 7,200 square feet JD flagship store that is set to open its doors at ION Orchard sometime in July or August!

The JD Jurong outlet is located at Jurong Point Shopping Centre, #01-34, Singapore 648886.

With the month of Ramadan in full swing, the streets of Geylang have been bustling with local foodies hunting for delicious eats to break fast with. From the highly-raved Beef Cubes to the gram-worthy unicorn milkshakes, we sussed out the Halal-friendly offerings worth braving the heat and crowd for at the Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar 2018.

Spicy Chicken Korean Noodles, $5

Spicy Chicken Korean Noodles, $5, SUAP

Where to find it: SUAP (Booth 43)

Our verdict: If you like stuff with a kick, this peppery cup of Korean glass vermicelli topped with slices of tender chicken has just the right amount of spice to satisfy your palate. The perfect appetiser to start off your street food escapade!

Angus Grilled Cheeseburger, $8

Angus Grilled Cheeseburger, $8, Word

Where to find it: WORD (Booth 39)

Our verdict: This grilled sandwich hailing from WORD could easily pass off as a thick, juicy burger to sink your teeth into. With a generous serving of Angus beef drenched in mozzarella goodness, this irresistible cheeseburger can do no wrong. Just look at that heavenly cheese pull!

Starlite Milkshake, $9.90

Starlite Milkshake, $9.90, Rainbow Works

Where to find it: Rainbow Works (Booth 42)

Our verdict: How gram-worthy is this strawberry bubblegum milkshake? Perfect for those with a sweet tooth, this whimsical creation is adorned with a party of marshmallows, fruity pebbles and a dollop of whipped cream. To sweeten the deal, it even comes with a balloon that lights up. The unicorn lover in us approves!

Blow Torch Beef Cubes, $12

Blow Torch Beef Cubes, $12, Beef Bro

Where to find it: Beef Bro (Booth 70)

Our verdict: We’ve seen lots of people raving about these mouthwatering beef cubes and the verdict is in – we’re ordering seconds. The Australian premium rump cubes are blow-torched to medium-rare perfection, served with their signature sambal chilli on the side for a local twist. Pair it with cheese, mentaiko or pink salt for an extra dose of flavour.

Tropical Flavoured Korean Bingsu, $6

Tropical Flavoured Korean Bingsu, $6, Icy Treats

Where to find it: Icy Treats (Booth 70)

Our verdict: Instead of your regular bowl of shaved ice, this tropical delight comes decadently topped with sunflower seeds, cornflakes, oats and a sprinkle of matcha powder. You also get a tube of ice cream soda that you can choose to take a shot or drizzle over your bingsu. Taste? Check. Novelty? Check. What’s not to love?

Signature Tri Fries, $5

Signature Trifries, $5, Trifries

Where to find it: Tri Fries (Booth GS 13)

Our verdict: If you’re one for variety, you’re in for a treat. The folks at Tri Fries upped their dip game by serving three of their specialty sauces – al’ Arrabbiata, Mexican hot sauce and good ol’ nacho cheese – along with their signature fries. And you know these guys are serious about their craft when they make their own sauce in-house.

Ice Cream Rollies Rainbow Tacos, $5

Ice Cream Rollies Rainbow Tacos, $5, Happy Rollies

Where to find it: Happy rollies (Booth GS 212)

Our verdict: While we usually have our ice cream roll as it is, Happy Rollies put a spin to their rollies by turning it into a rainbow taco – all held within the crispy goodness of a wafer. We like that it isn’t overly sweet, but has the subtle fragrance of taro with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles added into the mix.

Lemonster Apple Sparkle, $8

Lemonster Apple Sparkle, $8, The Raclette Factory

Where to find it: The Raclette Factory (Booth GS 221)

Our verdict: Most people flock to The Raclette Factory for its Swiss Rösti Raclette, but don’t miss out on its Lemonster series too – which we made a beeline for once the wave of humidity sank in. Served in a bucket and crowned with sparkling shaved ice, this icy thirst-quencher is all we need to combat the heat.

Butter Garlic Chicken, $7

Butter Garlic Chicken, $7, Chikaaaaboom

Where to find it: Chickaaaaboom (Booth GS 232)

Our verdict: It might not look the most appetising, but it sure packs a punch in terms of flavour. For 7 bucks, you get a decent portion of chicken chunks doused in creamy garlic sauce – just enough to fill you up without making you feel gelat.

The Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar is happening from now till 14 June 2018. Here’s wishing all our Muslim readers a blessed Ramadan Mubarak!
