If you’re looking to switch up your go-to order, here are five new alternatives to get your boba fix from.

HEYTEA needs no introduction. Touted as the OG creator of cheese tea, the highly-raved Chinese tea connoisseur has finally made its way to Singapore and opened to much fanfare the past weekend. Aside from their specialty tea offerings, you can also get your hands on their Singapore-exclusive ice cream flavours such as Durian Ice Cream ($4.80) and Salted Egg Yolk Ice Cream ($4.80). Just be prepared to join in the queue – it’ll be worth it.

If fruit teas are your cup of tea, look no further than TaiGai. Originating from Shenzhen, the novelty tea brand has recently set up their first ever overseas outlet in Singapore this September. Come for its exotic floral-scent teas, but stay for their signature Fruity Milky Kiss series – a refreshing combination of fresh blended fruits and milk cheese that are equal parts sweet, creamy and velvety. For starters, go for their best-selling Strawberry Pulpy Kiss ($6.80) which comes topped with a strawberry-blended milk cheese crown that will have you smitten at first sip.

Not to be missed is the Brown Sugar Fresh Milk ($3.80), which is delightfully complemented by their 65 degrees brown sugar coated pearls. Oh, and did we mention how adorable their takeaway packaging is? You can walk away with these cute carriers, or get your drinks dabao-ed in their reusable Buber Bottles. Talk about saving the environment, one bottle at a time!

If you fancy a healthier option to your regular cheese tea, consider giving Muyoo a shot. The homegrown label offers a selection of fruit-based beverages that come topped with their iconic Cheese Cloud, which is said to be made from naturally derived milk powder instead of artificial creamer. At their newest concept store situated outside of Bedok Mall, it also incorporates a bakery serving up fresh breads and pastries in addition to their beverage offerings.

Address: Bedok Mall #01-94, Singapore 467360

Have a question you don’t have an answer for? Answer Tea may be able to help you out. Simply write your questions on the cup holder and you’ll get your answer printed (it’s edible ink – don’t worry!) on top of the froth of your drink of choice. If you’re here for the ‘gram, we highly recommend the Lemon Butterfly Milk Tea (from $4.20) which has a gorgeous blue hue derived from butterfly pea flowers.

Address: Dhoby Ghaut MRT #B2-06, Singapore 238889
Opening hours: 11am – 10pm (Mon to Sun)

Heading for a vacay soon? You may want to make a trip down to the first-ever Travel Pawn Shop pop-up, happening from 16 to 18 November at Bugis+ Atrium.

With the holiday season just right around the corner, it’s hard not to be struck by the wanderlust bug, especially with all your friends spamming Instagram with their envy-inducing travel photos – whether it’s of them posing along the scenic streets of Tokyo, or discovering authentic Thai eats in Bangkok. And our good friends at Klook know exactly how important such experiences are to the Instagram generation of today, which is why they launched an entire Travel Pawn Shop to help you create memories of a lifetime.

So how does it work? Think of it as a traditional pawn shop – but instead of trading in items like expensive jewellery and luxury watches, you’re required to put up your old travel snaps on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #klooktravelpawnshop in exchange for a pawn ticket, which allows you to redeem a mystery experience at any of these five destinations: Japan, Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

This means Klook can take you from a Go-kart experience down the streets of Akihabara in Tokyo, to exploring the bustling Jiufen district in Taipei. And these are just a portion of the 10,000 experiences you can expect to receive over the course of three days at the Klook pop-up. If the selected destinations are not in your travel bucket list, you can choose to opt for Klook credit which can be used for more than 250 destinations.

In addition, visitors can also look forward to hourly flash deals on high-demand activities such as Universal Studios Japan, Everland and Ocean Park over the weekend from 2pm to 6pm. Now it’s time for you to give your friends some serious travel envy!

Klook Travel Pawn Shop will be taking place from 16 to 18 November, 10am to 10pm at Bugis+ Atrium. RSVP here!

You’ll feel like an Olympic athlete twirling on this expansive rink. Equipped with a 460-seat gallery spanning across two levels, The Rink is touted as Singapore’s first and only Olympic-sized ice skating rink. In numbers, it measures a whopping 1,800 square metres – which makes it the ideal location to host international tournaments for ice sports such as ice hockey, figure skating and ice curling. Don’t be surprised to see skating pros showing off their complex moves and dazzling routines every once in a while!

#2 Skating rink by day, disco by night

If you fancy adding a little more pizzazz to your ice skating experience, head down to The Rink at night – the real fun begins when the sun sets! On Fridays and Saturdays from 9.45pm to 11.45pm, watch as the space transforms into an all-out disco party. Cue in colourful flashing lights and dancefloor-ready tunes as you skate the night away.

Think you know your sneaks? Well, not if you don’t know about the annual Sole Superior sneaker and streetwear convention!

Taking place on 27 and 28 October 2018 at the Pasir Panjang “A” Power Station, the rebranded Street Super Festival (SSF) is set to be the biggest and most spectacular edition to date. Besides getting your hands (or in this case – feet) on dope kicks, this blockbuster extravaganza also features up to 16 showcase brands, 70 individual streetwear vendors, 15 F&B vendors and a smorgasbord of Hypebeast-approved activities sprawled across a whopping 70,000 square feet of raw industrial space.

Here’s what you can expect when you head down to SSF this weekend – limited-edition drops, pop-up stores, sick beats and more!

#1 Make a trip down to the convenience store

adidas-NMD-HU-Pharrell-Williams-x-Billionaire-Boys-Club

Except it’s unlike any other neighbourhood convenience store; it’s a pop-up mini mart that offers a cheeky twist on your local mama shop! Reimagined by the cool folks of Limited Edt, L.E Convenience allows you to purchase coveted footwear in place of bread, eggs and sundries, including hot new launches like the adidas NMD HU Pharrell Williams x Billionaire Boys Club, adidas Dragon Ball Z and adidas Yeezy 700. Super-rare Nike SB sneakers such as the Tiffany, Gucci and Ray Gun are also up for grabs.

#2 DIY your own pair of Timberland mini boots

Timberland DYO Boots Station

At the Timberland DYO Boots Station, attendees can try their hands at designing their own pair of mini boots. Also on showcase is a travelling display of Timberland’s iconic Yellow Boot in 45 special editions and limited releases, including high-profile collaborations with Mastermind, Stussy and more.

#3 Get skate-happy in your finest kicks

Vans Street Superior Festival 2018

Teaming up with craft brewery Pirate Life Beer, VANS has built a full-sized mini skate ramp with the intention of “uniting skate and art on one canvas”. While getting your skate on (bring your boards everybody!), don’t forget to take part in their cash for tricks contests as there are plenty of awesome prizes to be won!

#4 Trade, barter, sell or donate your old sneakers

Street Superior Festival Shoe Donation Drive

SSF isn’t just about splashing big bucks on grail and hype sneakers. For those who want to let go of their collectibles, there’s a Sneaker Trading Pit where you can trade, barter or sell your pre-loved kicks. Or if you wish to contribute to a social cause, you can also choose to donate your shoes at the shoe donation drive organised by Jason Markk x Bystander x Native, which will go towards Nashville-based non-profit social enterprise Soles4Souls.

#5 Chill out with great tunes and even greater food

Vans Street Superior Festival 2018

When you’re done hunting down your favourite pairs, fuel up on delicious street food from a wide array of independent food vendors (halal options included). Think succulent wagyu sliders from Tokidon, hearty sandwiches from Park Bench Deli, and gourmet burgers from Three Buns of Potato Head Folk. Thereafter, dance the night away to the hip-hop tunes of .Wav(y) as they bring the house down with an eclectic music lineup championed by sneakerheads and urban culture enthusiasts. No better way to end off the weekend!

Street Superior Festival 2018 Singapore

Other festival highlights include a Halloween multimedia installation and pop-up store by Steve Lawler and Tanya Wilson; a series of graffiti wall bombs by local graffiti artists; and the Hall of Flame gallery, which showcases 200 pairs of sneakers with heat and cult status such as the Louis Vuitton x Kanye West Jaspers, Nike Anaconda AF1 and adidas x Jeremy Scott JS Bear.

Street Superior Festival 2018 is happening on 27 and 28 October 2018 from 12pm to 10m at Pasir Panjang ‘A’ Power Station (8 minutes from Labrador Park MRT). Tickets from $15, www.streetsuperior.com
