What’s a trip to Taiwan without visiting the largest and most famous night market in town? But here’s the good news: local foodies don’t have to fly all the way there for a taste of Taiwanese eats, as the iconic Shilin Night Market (士林夜市) will be opening its first concept pop-up market in Singapore this April!
Brought to you by the good people behind Artbox, Singapore’s version of Shilin Night Market will be taking on its romanised form of Shilin Ye Shi and will be held at the Singapore Turf Club across two weekends. But before you get overly excited about the event, one thing to note is that you probably won’t be getting the entirety of the real deal.
In a Facebook post by event planner Invade, it’s said that one can expect a variety of authentic street snacks with a local twist, so there will most likely be a good mix of homegrown crafters alongside Taiwanese vendors. Although there’s no word on the exact F&B list yet, we’re crossing our fingers for at least some good ol’ fried chicken cutlet, oyster mee sua, stinky tofu and of course, everyone’s favourite bubble tea to satisfy our cravings.
Besides the grub, there will also be artisan stores, arcade games and even movie screenings to keep you occupied throughout the whole shindig.
Can our very own Shilin Ye Shi live up to the hype? We’ll just have to wait and find out.
