We were recently at the Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS) Graduate Fashion Festival 2015 and boy it was an eye-opener. The event was held at the National Design Centre and the graduates took part in The Maze, a highly interactive fashion show and exhibition that showcased the students’ outstanding works!
Well-known industry players such as the Regional Director of Dolce and Gabbana, Creative Director of Braun Buffel and Retail Director of Gucci (just to name a few) were there to grace the event.
A total of 13 fashion graduates from nine different countries showcased their outstanding projects and creations to industry players that evening.
Winners of the People’s Choice Award and Industry’s Choice Award for Fashion Design, Drishti Makhija and Yuna Yun showcased their collections.
Graduates of Fashion Marketing and Branding presented their innovative business ideas for MDIS fashion industry partners such as, Forever 21, Zhai and Robinsons.
Six collections designed by Fashion Design students from MDIS School of Fashion and Design and Nottingham Trent University in the UK were brought onto the runway.
One of the students featured was Noella Foo from Singapore. Her collection was inspired by childhood traumatic experiences; it mixes mini-sized and over-sized garments covered by colourful graphic embroideries.
Guests were also invited to immerse themselves in a five-stage journey that reflects the execution process that students went through in their final year.
The MDIS – Nottingham Trent University (UK) programmes were launched in 2011. To date, the total intake for both the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Design and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Fashion Marketing and Business is close to 150! More information on the courses can be found here.
Seeing great works coming from our local graduates makes us feel proud and an utmost congratulations to all the fresh graduates of MDIS School of Fashion and Design on getting your degrees! Let us know what you think about their creations by commenting below!
