Building up your social media platforms isn’t as simple nowadays thanks to how saturated the ‘social media influencer’ market is – it kinda seems like everyone’s (trying to be) an influencer. But to us at Teenage, there is actually a difference between a true blue social media influencer and someone who simply posts content online. This person has to be truly influential – you’d want to use the products they’ve used, eat the food they recommended, travel to destinations they’ve been to, and even buy their entire outfit. Here are 15 Singaporean influencers that embody just that, and more.
#1 The Food Photographer
Trust us, taking a good food photo takes great effort and skill. If you want to venture into food photography and need inspiration on styling your food shots, check out our Teenage Gorgeous You (TGY) 2015 winner, Goh Liang Yu’s Instagram feed! From ice-cream to waffles to even laksa, his gorgeously styled photos are sure to give you tons of creative ideas. Warning: do not visit his feed on an empty stomach.
#2 The #Foodporn Creator
The go-to feed for yummy self-made bentos and confectionaries, Shirley aka Little Miss Bento has captured tummies worldwide with her adorable creations. Even cooking noobs like us were tempted into trying our hand at making one of her bentos! Needless to say, we failed miserably.
#2 Fashion-Everything
A style chameleon who’s unafraid of experimenting with eclectic prints, textures, and bright colourswe dare say that Yoyo Cao is one of Singapore’s most fashionable ladies. And her Instafeed is just proof of that.
A familiar face on many of our favourite local webstores, Francesca Tan has a way of making us want to purchase all of her outfits. If Yoyo’s outfits are too high-level for you, we think Francesca’s comfy yet stylish outfits are your best bet.
#3 Beauty Addict
Guan Min’s Instagram feed is basically food for the #BeautyAddict’s soul. She features a plethora of the latest must-purchase skincare and cosmetic products, plus gorgeous makeup looks that inspire us to be more adventurous with our face paint.
#4 The Guilty Pleasures
We hate to admit this, but there are some Instagrammers we follow simply because they’re really, really pretty. Nicole Changmin and Ding Xuan are our top two favourites and they kinda fall into both categories too. But it’s not all shallow adoration – we’re constantly inspired to stop being lazy and start putting our best faces forward! #TheStruggleIsReal
#5 The Photographer
As a professional photographer, Fiona’s photos are on a different level of aesthetics altogether. Each of her snaps – whether it’s of her work, travels, or every day life – are captured in stunning imagery that offers viewers a sliver of that very moment when the shutter clicked.
#6 The Creative
In the photography equivalent of “One man’s rubbish is another man’s gold”, Yafiq Yusman transforms otherwise mundane views into interestingly artistic shots. Check out his shots of Singapore Polytechnic, the Textile Centre and Marina Bay Singapore and prepare to be amazed.
#7 The Travellers
Andrea Chong and Cristabel Chua’s Instagram content covers far more than just travelling, but we find that theirs are the best at giving us glimpses of far-flung destinations in all their picturesque glory. And it doesn’t hurt that they’re gorgeously dressed while at it too.
#8 Too Cool For School
Effortlessly fashionable and spunky to boot, Chloe Choo and Linda Hao are the epitome of the elusive Instagram It Girl. Not only do we want to shop their entire wardrobes, we kinda want to try their daring styles – yes, even Chloe’s dreadlocked look.
#9 The #Fitspo
Sandra Riley Tang isn’t just 1/4 of The Sam Willows – she also co-owns The Yoga Co., a popular yoga studio at Pahang Street. The biggest thing we enjoy about her feed, apart from the bite-sized glimpses we get of her life, is most probably how active this girl gets. One moment she’s doing impossible yoga moves, the next she’s doing Brazillian Jiu-jitsu – all while looking absolutely fab. Scrolling through her Instagram feed on lazy days helps get us up and moving. And now, you will too.
#10 The Singaporean Lifestyle
From interesting food spots to the latest trends, to the hottest events, Gerald Png (TGY 2015 first runner up) shares his life through a carefully curated feed of everything lifestyle-related. Did we mention he has a super adorable pooch too?
