We couldn’t resist pitting the ‘Break The Rules’ singer against ‘Your Lips Are Movin’ M-Train. After all, there’s only room for one break-out star in this town. #JustKidding
Meghan Trainor and Charli XCX share several things in common: both had their big break in 2014, they’re singer-songwriters, and these babes definitely take charge of their own careers. We couldn’t resist pitting the two ladies against each other, especially since their debut gigs here are scheduled only one day apart. Who d’you think will win an epic singer showdown – rebel punk Charli XCX, or Motown/doo-wop sweetheart Meghan Trainor?
We’re going with the tunes that made them famous for this one. While Charli XCX’s ‘Boom Clap’ peaked at 8 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, Meghan’s ‘All About That Bass’ topped the same chart eight consecutive weeks. Verdict: in terms of viral popularity, it’s evident that Meghan won by a landslide.
Round 2: Song-writing Skills
It’s safe to say that they’re both accomplished song-writers. After all, Charli XCX co-wrote massively popular tracks like ‘I Love It’ (Icona Pop) and ‘Fancy’ (Iggy Azalea), while Meghan chipped in for the Rascal Flatts and Fifth Harmony’s ‘Sledgehammer’ amongst others. It’s a close competition, but we’d say Charli XCX takes this one based on the overwhelming popularity of her works.

The ladies sing different tunes – Meghan goes for upbeat songs ‘bout loving yourself and self-empowerment, while Charli XCX rocks the wild child pop. It honestly depends on your mood, but we’d say Charli XCX’s grungy vibes appeal to us a little bit more ATM.
Round 4: Celebrity Friends Photos: www.newsthis.com/Getty Images
Charli XCX and Meghan don’t exactly run in the same circles, but they’ve definitely rubbed shoulders at industry events. While the former discreetly hangs with mates like Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora, Pharrell Williams and Marina (of Marina and the Diamonds), Meghan is constantly spotted with different celebs like Sam Smith, Harry Styles (One Direction), Lucy Hale, Fifth Harmony etc. ‘A’ for effort, M-Train!
