After weeks of rumours on a possible tie-up with BT21, the Japanese global retailer has finally confirmed the news in an Instagram post earlier this morning: the collaboration of every ARMY’s dream is officially happening!
Since earlier this year, UNIQLO has been going full steam ahead with a smorgasbord of new collaborations launched every other day – the latest additions to its lineup being the Pixar Vacation UT Collection and the Manga UT Collection – and they show no signs of stopping anytime soon. Finally, there’s something for the K-pop fans: a whole new collection dedicated to the iconic characters of BT21.
BT21 is no stranger to collabs either. Created by K-pop supergroup BTS in partnership with LINE Friends, these lovable icons (Chimmy, Cooky, Koya, Mang, RJ, Shooky and Tata) have since teamed up with the likes of Anti Social Social Club, :CHOCOOLATE and Converse to launch a series of oh-so-adorable collectibles ranging from apparel to footwear to cosmetics. Thus, it’s of no surprise that UNIQLO decided to jump onto the bandwagon.
The first project to be unveiled as part of a new LINE FRIENDS collaboration, the range features a total of 11 designs across 12 colours – and we think they may just give KAWS a run for their money. Bad news for scalpers though; UNIQLO has implemented restrictions for each customer to only purchase only one piece per UT design and colour. Brace yourselves for the T-shirt war!
