Youth Day isn’t just another day when you didn’t have to go to school. Same goes for Youth Month, it isn’t just any other month. It’s a special time where the young people of Singapore is celebrated, recognised and appreciated. With so many activities planned for the month of July for you by the National Youth Council and their partners – if you’re still not convinced on why you should be part of Youth Month, we give you 4 reasons why it matters to you.
#1 It’s all about you
SHINE Festival
SHINE Festival happened last weekend and it was a blast! Featuring 5 pillars – Music & Dance, Urban Art, Urban Sports, Interactive Media and Pop Culture – with showcases and initiatives led by youths happening all over town over 3 days, it was an extravaganza of epic proportions. Dance competitions, live band performances, food festival and Jay Park performing live – you’d know it’s big when they have to cordon off a part of Orchard Road just for the event. Perks of Youth

Every Singaporean Daughter
We’ve always heard the term “Every Singaporean Son” but have you ever wondered what makes a Singaporean daughter? Catch the play Every Singaporean Daughter happening from 15 – 17 July, at KC Arts Centre, Home of SRT, as it aims to open a window into the experiences of women in Singapore.

In My Shoes
Everyone needs to know that it’s ok to talk about mental health. “In My Shoes” is a community arts project that aims to empower and gather aspiring artists and advocates for mental health. Happening from 30 June – 31 July 2016, the project will showcase a multi-disciplinary gallery which will bring together the mental health community.
TEDx Youth Talks
Tedx celebrates youth talents and aspirations, through engaging talks and sessions that cover issues of invigorating content from youths from all walks of life. Come get inspired and take part in these series of conversations – because who knows, you might just find it within yourself to realise your potential! #3 Showcase your talents
National Youth Film Awards
National Youth Film Awards – a platform for youths to develop their aspirations in film-making through *SCAPE media programmes is happening on 23 July! Through the programme, youths got the unique opportunity to learn from established industry partners and other like-minded youths. This year, various awards including Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Documentary and Best Animated Film will be presented. Show your support and check out the nominees here!
Little Red Dot Dance Challenge
The rise of the new movers and shakers. Little Red Dot Dance Challenge aims to instil a positive change in youths beyond the dance floor as participants will be pushed through a series of transformation in mindset, behaviour and self. Happening on 31 Jul at *SCAPE’s ground theatre, keep a lookout for more details!
Singapore Youth Festival
Singapore Youth Festival or more widely known as SYF is an annual celebration of youth achievements in Co-Curricular Activities and an artistic showcase of talents. This year’s theme is YOUTHforia! which is a play on the word ‘euphoria’, indicating the effervescence and self-confidence of youth in presenting their passions and talents. #4 Give back to society
Common Space for Common Good
Give youthfulness and passion a whole new meaning! An initiative by Youth Corps Singapore, Common Space for Common Good matches your passions with the needs of the community. Volunteers got to engage with seniors from AWWA Senior Community Home, as part of the initiative’s aim to promote a caring and inclusive Singapore!
