Rejoice for the extra day off this week! We give you some ideas on what to do during the long weekend.

BUY: Mother’s Day gifts
Although I’m a beauty junkie, my mom’s the complete opposite – often turning to just a touch of lipstick to brighten the complexion. The Laneige K-beauty Makeup Set ($75) is perfect for both makeup noobs and seasoned makeup gurus, it consists of their best-selling BB Cushion, Serum Intense Lipstick (there’s a choice of Flash Pink or Twinkle Coral available), Lip & Eye Remover Waterproof and the Multi Cleanser so she can get all dolled up for Mother’s Day.
EAT: Chef Icon
We tried out Chef Icon as part of our ‘Eat Clean’ story in the April issue of Teenage where we recommended healthy eateries. I fell in love with the Yakiniku Mushroom Burger ($8.80) which mind you, did not contain any meat at all. The sandwich contained crunchy vegetables and seasoned mushrooms between freshly toasted bread that had me (a meat-lover) hankering for it.
Chef Icon is located at 5 Kampong Bahru Road, Singapore 169341.
My handwriting can be mistaken for an awesome doctor’s, except I’m not one. Having pretty handwriting is one skill I wish I had picked up as a kid, but I guess it’s never too late. There are plenty of calligraphy workshops out there that allows you to improve your penmanship. In this world of emails and text messages, it would be meaningful (not to mention super hipster) to drop someone a nice hand-written note.

For anyone who loves Peranakan cuisine, give Candlenut a try. Head chef Malcolm Lee recreates favourite Peranakan dishes with an innovative twist. There are many must-try dishes like Buah Keluak Beef Ribs and Grilled Pork Cheeks, but my ultimate favourites are the desserts. Their Chendol Cream (pictured) is like panna cotta but 10 times better, Textures of Coconut brings a refreshing end to any dinner and if you love savoury desserts, the Buah Keluak Ice Cream is the one for you.
Candlenut is located at Dorsett Residences, 331 New Bridge Road #01-03, Singapore 088764.

DO: Touch up hair colour @ Hairloom
My dark hair roots are showing and so it’s time for a touch-up session at Hairloom! I’ve been a purple head for more than 2 years now, anyone who has coloured hair knows that the maintenance is no joke but guess what? I only bleach my hair roots twice a year and touch up the colour once every 2 months (that’s pretty low maintenance btw), and it’s all because they use quality products like Goldwell Elumen.

WATCH: Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
For our male readers who love a good boxing match. The latest ‘Fight of The Century’ between undefeated five-division champion Floyd Mayweather, Jr and the only eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao, for the welterweight title unification fight is a match five years in the making. And it’s expected to shatter boxing records by generating revenue exceeding $400m. Needless to say, I’m definitely tuning in this Sunday morning (3 May, 9am) to watch the live telecast from Las Vegas. I’m rooting for Pacquiao although Mayweather’s the crowd favourite – comment below to let us know who you want to win!
Available on StarHub TV SuperSports PPV HD* Ch 218 at $39.90.
LISTEN: BIGBANG Made Series [M]
BIGBANG is back with BIGBANG Made Series [M] (the first instalment of their MADE album series) and I can’t stop spazzing about it (True VIP #SorryNotSorry). The only two songs that’ll officially drop this Friday (12am, 1 May), ‘LOSER’ and ‘BAE BAE’, are going to be my soundtrack for this weekend, so watch for it on BIGBANG’s Facebook page. BTW, in case you haven’t heard, BIGBANG’s coming here for a concert! Find out more here.
DO: Mother’s Day Present
I thought I’d do something special this year – instead of simply buying a present for mum – by trying my hand at the M.O.M flower letters that we featured in the ‘Nothing Like A Present’ DIY article in our May issue. You’ve to grab that copy to find out the how-tos, but let’s just say that this present ranks high on the expensive-looking-yet-minimal-effort gift list. Plus it’s highly customisable and perfect for decor shots on Instagram. #AmITheFavouriteKidYet ?

EAT: Paddy Hills
Credit: Ian Jeimx
You certainly can’t judge a book by its cover, but Paddy Hills is so drop-dead gorgeous at every corner that I just have to make a trip down again (yes, it’ll be my second visit #SorryNotSorry). Hipster-chic decor and its pun-tastic #OOTD wall aside, this Aussie-inspired newcomer also impresses with its insanely photogenic grub. The star of the breakfast menu is undeniably the Berry Riccota Hotcake ($19), topped with a party of blueberry sugar, forest berries, pine nuts.
Paddy Hills is located at 38 South Buona Vista Road, Singapore 118164.
SHOP: Flea Markets
Credit: The Urban Wire
We know how hard it is to hit the streets without splashing out on shopping, but it’s not entirely impossible. Flea markets may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but put aside the stigma and you’ll be sure to walk off with at least one item that tickles your fancy. This week, head down to Sim Lim Square for the Daebak Sale, which will feature pre-loved threads from online labels and influencers such as Bong Qiu Qiu, Sherlyn Chan and Audrey L.
Daebak Sale will be happening at Sim Lim Square on 25 April 2015, from 1pm to 6pm.
READ: Paper Towns by John Green
Credit: The Fictionologist
With news of the Paper Towns movie adaptation (starring Cara Delevingne and Nat Wolff) making its way to our silver screens this coming July, it’d be wrong not to mug up on the book first. The story centres on a shy dude (Quentin Jacobsen) with a crush on the girl next door (Margo Roth Spiegelman), who turns out not to be the perfect goddess he thought she was…
