WATCH: The Martian
During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and is left behind by his crew. But he survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive and survive long enough until someone reaches him. When they received news that Watney is still alive, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crew mates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. Who wants to bet that at least one person dies and Sean Bean might be the one? PLUS how apt to watch this movie over the weekend cause NASA just announced that there is flowing water on Mars! Proving that growing plants on Mars is possible, so this movie might not be too farfetched after all.
GO TO: Halloween Horror Nights 5 at Universal Studios Singapore
Our favourite holiday is back once again and evil is upon all of us! The looming lunar eclipse will mark the beginning of the darkest age yet. Experience the horrors of the Blood Moon, unleashed across 4 haunted houses and 3 scare zones. Plus, selected rides will be open. If you want to cover all the haunted houses, scare zones, avoid queues and have extra cash, go for the Express Pass (additional $50)! I went last year and queued almost 3 hours for one of the haunted houses, so obviously I didn’t manage to cover all the attractions in one night. *sad face*

WATCH: Everest
An adventure thriller of epic proportions, this movie is based on real-life events from the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, where eight people died when a blizzard struck during their summit attempt. Documenting the journey of two expeditions led by Rob Hall (Jason Clarke) and the other by Scott Fischer (Jake Gyllenhaal), we see the climbers fight a failing battle against nature for their very survival. Although I’m already prepped for a tragic ending, this flick is a guaranteed nail-biting tearjerker nonetheless.
ATTEND: Eir Aoi World Tour 2015 (3 Oct)
3rd October marks the first time Japanese songstress Eir Aoi will be performing here. And despite her cutesy image, this babe definitely knows how to bring the house down. Expect hits like ‘Memoria’, ‘Aurora’, ‘Innocence’ etc., rabid fanboys, and a rocking good time!
Eir Aoi World Tour 2015 will be held at 8 pm on 3 October at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa. Tickets from $88, sistic.com.sg
DIY: Matte And Glossy Nails
Stumbling across this nail tutorial reminded me about how much I love combining matte and glossy finishes for a subtle contrast of textures. Also, I really like the usage of a transparent glitter nail polish to add a fun twist to the usual matte-and-glossy manicure, plus it’s so darn simple. If you’re not a fan of this look, I’d suggest doing a simple french manicure with a glossy tip on a matte nail. So pretty!

EAT: MU Parlour
You might think you know every corner of the bustling Holland Village, but one of its best-kept secrets is a chic little hideout called MU Parlour. Tucked up a flight of stairs, MU Parlour is ideal for people-watching and has delicious gourmet burgers and iron cast waffles to go with it. We suggest having a light brunch to leave room for desserts, but if you wish to go big on savoury, ordering the decadent MU Platter ($38) should more or less satisfy. Check out at how decadent it looks!
MU Parlour is located at 16A Lorong Mambong, Singapore 277677.
VISIT: Times Bookstores New Concept Store at Marina Square
As a self-proclaimed bookworm, the opening of the Times Bookstores new concept store at Marina Square (#03-149) makes me very, very happy. Decked out in its trademark orange decor, this sprawling 2,800 square feet space carries an extensive collection of books for all ages and even has a dedicated children’s corner. What’s cool about this is the wide selection of lifestyle merchandise, from hipster quote books to quirky tote bags and beyond. And we’ve got a new scoop – Times will be launching its biggest retail store to date at Punggol Waterway Point in 2016, so watch out for that as well!
What’s on your list this weekend? Sound off below!
