EAT: Populus Coffee & Food Co.
You won’t find your usual kind of brunch staple at this all-day breakfast hangout. Instead you’ll find a variety of brunch dishes like the Populus ‘Chicken Rice’ Donburi ($18), Lemon & White Chocolate Sundae ($14) and even Buckwheat Pancakes topped with berry compote, passionfruit curd, fresh fruit, ‘cornflake’ crumb and thyme infused pure maple syrup (pictured)! Time to ditch those Eggs Benedict I say!
Populus Coffee & Food Co. is located at 146 Neil Road, Singapore 088875
WATCH: Love The Coopers
Here comes all the Christmas/New Year flicks with mega casts and Love the Coopers is not unlike the rest. Family drama and everything else you can think of goes wrong, with the movie ending (most likely) in the most heart warming way. But what’s the holiday season like without catching a film like that with your family, makes you rediscover family bonds and the spirit of the holidays.
VISIT: Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay
If you’re not heading overseas for the holidays (like me *sobs*), soak in the Christmas atmosphere at the Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay! Get the Christmas carnival experience by twirling around in the ice skating rink, engaging in snowball fights with your friends and shopping/eating at the European-styled marketplace. Sounds like a bucket load of fun already!

Don’t fret if you missed Black Friday and Cyber Monday, because ZALORA’s 1212 Online Fever sale is coming up. There’ll be irresistible deals spanning over fashion, beauty, lifestyle, food and even travel, so prep up for this mega sale by getting ready your wish-list before 12th December. I’ll probably be camping on the fashion and beauty sections, just in time for Christmas! Remember, it’s fastest fingers first guys, so get ready to overload your shopping carts!
The ZALORA sale will be held on 12th December. Check the sale out here.
SHOP: Rakuten
Image: Weekendhk
Honestly, the bulk of my shopping is done online – receiving my items in the mail kinda feels like receiving presents! Since I’ve a lot of shopping to be done, especially in the Christmas season. Rakuten is pretty good for getting cute Japanese snacks. I’ve got my eye on Bunmeido, a seller that offers yummy Jap cakes that’ll be great for gatherings, or even a mid-day snack. There’s even a promotion for it going on right now, which offers 40X RSP (Rakuten Super Points) for every purchase. Check it out here.
VISIT: Star Wars: The Force Awakens Event at VivoCity
I can’t wait for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie, but till then, I’m gonna sate my appetite at the Star Wars exhibit at VivoCity. There’ll be a huge collection of Star Wars: The Force Awakens displays and collectibles, as well as interactive games. There’s even a huge Star Wars wall mural made entirely of LEGO bricks – it’s apparently the largest mural in Singapore… Tag us on Instagram (@TeenageMagazine) with your photos if you decide to head on down too!
The Star Wars: The Force Awakens event will be running till 20th December, at VivoCity atrium.

LISTEN: The Day – DAY6
If you’ve been keeping tabs on our Instagram/Twitter (you totally should btw), you should be more or less aware about the series of SGKStar2015 fanmeets we’ve attended last weekend. But amongst the acts, I must say that I’m pretty damn obsessed with DAY6. These super rookies are no run-of-the-mill idol group – not only are they fab at singing, all the members play their own instruments like a legit band (not to mention that all of ’em are equally cute as well). They may only be three months old, but they’ve got a killer debut album under their belt. Aside from ‘Congratulations’, you should definitely check out ‘Out Of My Mind’, ‘Colours’ and… basically every other track on The Day. Also, keep an eye out for our full coverage of DAY6 in Singapore!
EAT: Singapore Cafe Week
As a fellow advocate of local cafe culture, I’m super psyched for the Singapore Cafe Week happening this weekend and the next – from 10th to 13th December, and 17th to 20th December. Organised by Nomnom, this gastronomic fest features a lineup of some of the top cafes that are no strangers to our lil’ red dot, including Curious Palette, Group Therapy, Froth and Holqa. Brunch is priced at $25, tea at $15, and dinner at $35. We’re drooling already!
Visit Nomnom’s website for more information.
VISIT: Winter at Booktique Christmas Fair
Booktique’s having their first winter-themed celebration! There’ll be handmade crafts from indie artisans, Christmas carols, and even a live performance by local band Twigs & Vines. But that’s not all, the folks at Booktique are also organising a cool bookmarks exchange. We’re unfortunately too late for their deadline, but for those who’d like to know how it works, visit their Facebook event page for the steps. Regardless, this mini Christmas fair should be up the alley of all you biblophiles, so be sure to pop by!
Booktique is located at 1 Raffles Link #B1-17A CityLink Mall, Singapore 039393
