WATCH: Cinewa – Sundays With Japanese Cinema

Cinewa Japanese Films The Projector

For Japanese film addicts, get a taste of the seven films that will be featured at this year’s Japanese Film Festival Singapore 2016 this weekend at The Projector. There will be a showcase that serves as a prelude to the festival that holds a selection of under-the-radar gems like Kamome Diner, Megane, Like Father Like Son and many more. There are student price tickets available! More details at The Projector.

LISTEN: NCT 127

I haven’t been the most up to date with the K-pop newbies in the recent years ’cause it was getting kind of boring with the same old K-pop formula used over and over again. But SM Entertainment’s newest boy group (5 years after EXO’s debut) NCT 127 has definitely caught my attention with their edgy EDM sounding track ‘Fire Truck’ and I was determined to find out more about them. If you’re new to NCT as I am or just want to know more about them, check out this article which covers everything NCT related!

GO TO: Bounce After Dark

Have a bouncing good time at Singapore’s very first edition of Bounce After Dark happening this weekend! Party in neon club lights and bounce to the beats of the latest tunes as Radio DJ Mister Young from Power 98FM will be spinning for the party! Who says you need alcohol to have a good time at a party?!

ATTEND: Singapore Food Festival

Singapore Food Festival 2016

Sure, us millennials love fancy cafe grub and all, but nothing truly beats the authentic taste of local cuisine. At Singapore Food Festival, savour a mouth-watering range of traditional and modern flavours – from the likes of our good ol’ Chicken Rice and Fishball Noodles, to some downright Chilli Crab Pie and Laksa Pesto with a twist. Don’t miss the signature event of STREAT, featuring unique creations whipped up by a stellar cast of hawkers and chefs at superb prices. Go on an empty tummy!

VISIT: Big Bang Data

Big Bang Data Singapore

What does data mean to you? This thought-provoking exhibition at ArtScience Museum allows you to experience the hidden world of data through a series of trippy yet powerful visualisation artworks and immersive installations. Truth to be told, I initially had little knowledge of how expansive our digital footprint actually is, but Big Bang Data engages its visitors in such an utterly eerie yet beautiful way that you’ll come out of the exhibition a true-blue geek. I especially enjoyed literally walking down the memory lane at the 24 Hours in Photos area, where a million photos uploaded onto Flickr in a day are printed out and chucked into this ‘landfill’ of memories.

Big Bang Data runs from now till 16 October 2016. Tickets are available here at $9.20 for students.

WATCH: Uncontrollably Fond

Okay, I still can’t quite get over Doctors, but there’s another show on our radar that we just have to mention – it has gorgeous cinematography, an interesting storyline, and smouldering chemistry between the two leads, Kim Woo Bin and Miss A’s Suzy (not to mention the fact that the eye candy cast alone is already a major plus). The pilot garnered a mixed bag of reviews, but thankfully, the second episode picked up pace and showed a promising direction for the show to head. Surprise us, Uncontrollably Fond!
