VISIT: Singapore Night Festival 2015
#SGNightFest is back to spice up our weekend nights (21, 22 & 28,29 August) for another year of spectacular installations, glamorous acts and breath-taking performances! The exciting line-up will be filled with ‘Glitz and Glamour’ (their theme this year) in conjunction with our nation’s Golden Jubilee. With over 60 festival partners in the Bras Basah Bugis Precinct, I’m absolutely looking forward to the show stopping performances and how can I forget about the wide array of food that will be available at the Festival Village!

EAT: Coastal Settlement
Get away from the crowd by parking yourself at one of the most ulu (meaning rural place) cafes around! This rustic colonial cafe is hidden amidst Mother Nature, spacious enough for big groups to dine yet cosy enough for a romantic date as well. My favourite dish has to be the Portobello Fries ($15), it goes superbly well with the mayonnaise and is great for sharing.
Coastal Settlement is located at 200 Netheravon Road, Singapore 508529
We are giving away 10 x $20 vouchers for you to dine at Coastal Settlement! Click here to find out how you can get your hands on the vouchers.
PLAY: Skyline Luge Sentosa
Sometimes we all just need to de-stress after a long week and do something that will get those adrenaline pumping. I’ve got just the solution for you. Have a fun-filled day with your mates and satisfy the speed racer in you at the same time with Luge! Either choose to take a leisure cruise or race down the 688 metre Dragon trail or 628 metre Jungle trail with this thrill ride. I’ll definitely race down with my friends and the loser will have to pay for the next ride. *evil.grins*

WATCH: Hitman: Agent 47
A reboot of 2007’s video game-turned movie Hitman, this 2015 version stars Rupert Friend as the mysterious secret agent slash assassin (no pun intended) Agent 47. Genetically engineered to be better than anyone else in every aspect possible, he teams up with Katia van Dees (Hannah Ware) to find out how to overcome powerful enemies who want to create an army of killers who are even more powerful than he is. Although Hitman: Agent 47 scored a lowly 6 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, I’m still gonna catch it simply ’cause this Hollywood film had scenes shot in Singapore (namely the Singapore Flyer and Gardens by the Bay). There’s something so unsettling about seeing our trademark blue Comfort taxis in fight scenes… And I love it!
LISTEN: Imagine Dragons Smoke + Mirror Tour Playlist
I’m totally stoked ’bout Imagine Dragons’ Smoke + Mirror tour here next Tuesday (25 August), and in anticipation of that, I’m listening to nothing but the tunes by the band this weekend. The playlist above was specially put together by the band themselves! Also, if you’ve read our feature on Imagine Dragons in our August issue, you’ll be introduced to our theory about how Imagine Dragons’ songs are perfect for every situation in our lives – even the crappy ones. Which are your must-listen Imagine Dragons songs? Comment below and share your faves!
TRY: 2-Ingredient Nutella Ice Cream
This semi-low calorie snack literally only consists two ingredients: Nutella and bananas. And it’s super easy to whip up. Even though I don’t own a blender (didn’t have any need for it till now), I’ll painstakingly blend each slice of banana and dollop of Nutella in manually. Trust me, it’ll be worth it.

EAT: Springleaf Prata Place
An eggs benny atop a prata, say what? This place serves probably one of the best pratas in town, dishing out innovative flavours while still staying true to their traditional roots. But seriously, the Plaster Blaster ($8) is really the stuff dreams are made of, featuring a luscious poached egg drizzled with Indian hollandaise sauce and served on a piece of their signature crispy prata. Of course, we can’t miss out the SG50 specialty – the Umami 50 Prata ($8). Portions are generous for sharing, prices are friendly on the wallet and it opens till midnight so you can head over for supper with your buds. Whats not to love?
Springleaf Prata Place outlets are located at Nanyang Polytechnic, Thong Soon Avenue and Ang Mo Kio. Visit www.theprataplace.com.sg for more info.
WATCH: To The Fore
When a cast has this much star power, you know it’s gonna be kickass (well, at least for most of the time). The guzzoline-charged film stars hotties Eddie Peng, Shawn Dou and Super Junior’s Choi Si Won as competing cyclists, but granted, things are not as simple as racing to the finish line. As they rise to the top, their friendship is put to the test as rivalry, setbacks and the customary love triangle ensue. To The Fore may suffer from the predictability of the sports genre, but it’s a plot that will provoke much thought and keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time – especially for the bromance-thristy peeps. It’s an insane ride, and you’ll love every bit of it.
SING: Manekineko
Mainstream karaoke studios too pricey for ya? At Manekineko, you can sing to your heart’s content for three full hours at $13 nett. Plus there’ll be an unlimited supply of soft drinks and popcorn on top of that, for real! This Japan-based KTV houses 25 different colour-themed rooms, adorned with super adorable illustrations of their cat mascot. How cute is that?! Songs are not restricted to Japanese – you can choose up to 14 languages – so rest assured there’s something for everyone.
Manekineko is located at *SCAPE #03-05. Visit www.facebook.com/manekinekosg for more info.
