WATCH: Inside Out
Another masterpiece by Pixar, Inside Out takes us inside the mind of 11-year old Riley Anderson where we meet her emotions – Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear and Anger. Everything was fine and dandy for Riley, and her memories are mostly joyful, until her dad decided to uproot her family for work and move to San Francisco. Journey through Riley’s mind with a visual treat of different parts of the mind like Imagination Land, Dream Productions, long-term memory, abstract thinking and core memories. This movie goes right up there with classics like Up, Toy Story and Monsters Inc.

DO: Yoga at The Yoga Co
Photo: The Yoga Co
Yoga has got to be one of the easiest exercises to pick up, especially if you’re not a fan of cardio. I’ve been to The Yoga Co twice now, and I love the home setting – a truly relaxing environment for taking away the stress of the week. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Sandra Riley Tang of The Sam Willows co-opened it, so you might end up rubbing shoulders with her in your class. Sign up for Yin yoga if you’re looking for a good stretch or if you’re adventurous, try out the Triple Threat Bootcamp for an intense yoga session that will have you soaking the mat.
The Yoga Co is located at 73 Kim Yam Rd, Level 3 (Entrance at Tong Watt Rd), Singapore 239370.

EAT: Tonkatsu by Ma Maison
This has to be one of the best Tonkatsu available in Singapore, even my based-in-Japan-for-20-years dad approves and that really says something. Though their menu consist of fried food only, they do serve a good variety of mains like the different types of pork and seafood. The set meals are a little pricey but it’s all worth it cause it comes with rice and sides of soup, shredded cabbage and pickles – all served free-flow! And can I add that the shredded cabbage goes mighty well with the sesame sauce. Mmmm..
Tonkatsu by Ma Maison is located at 333A Orchard Road #02-35/36 Mandarin Gallery, Singapore 238897

ATTEND: Justice League Run 2015
Running (and exercise) has never quite been my thing, but the Justice Run is way too epic for me to miss it. Come this Sunday, I’ll be racing (okay, slow jogging) alongside participants reppin’ Teams Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Flash, around picturesque Sentosa Island – BTW, I’m on Team Flash. Watch our Instagram @TeenageMagazine for updates then!
DIY: Abstract Manicure
I’m always on the lookout for effortless yet stylish nail designs, and this fits the bill perfectly. Simply paint on your base coat and use a stripping tool or thin brush to trace the black lines. Then, use a quick drying top coat to seal in and protect your design. And you’re done!

LISTEN: HyunA – A+
Is it even possible for HyunA, aka K-pop’s resident provocateur (and my personal girl crush), to be even bolder? You betcha. No idol does the sensual concept better than HyunA, and her latest EP A+ is proof. It’s downright naughty and catchy, with ballsy lyrics that might as well be equivalent of her flipping the bird to haters. While ‘Because I’m The Best’ flaunts her trademark badassery, ballads like ‘Peace’ expose her raw, emotional side. Who’s to say that HyunA can’t sing now?
EAT: Brew Maison
Brew Maison is my newest go-to haunt, and will probably stay as a favourite for quite a while. Situated opposite Singapore Chinese Girls’ School, it’s a charming little cafe that serves awesome bites (try their signature French Cubes) and pretty decent coffee. Plus it doesn’t hurt that the place has free Wi-Fi, ample electrical sockets and a super cosy ambience! Psst, we’re giving away cash vouchers for this – free food alert!
Brew Maison is located at 383 Bukit Timah Road, Alocassia Apartments #01-9B, Singapore 259727.
VISIT: Makers’ Market

This vibrant marketplace features a curated series of home-grown start-ups, brands and designers, ranging from vintage collectibles to artisanal pastries to affordable art.
Makers’ Market is happening at TripleOne Somerset Level 1 on 29 and 30 August, 1pm to 7pm.
