It’s the super long weekend and with so much time on hand, we’re sure you must be thinking about what you can do. We share with you a list of places you can go (for free!) to make this weekend a memorable one!
SINGAPORE SCIENCE CENTRE
The Singapore Science Centre (SCS) will be offering free entry to Singapore citizens from 7th to 10th August. The free admission also includes entry into six other attractions at the centre: The “Human Body Experience” exhibition, the “Interplay: Where Science Meets Art” exhibition, KidsSTOP™, Snow City, The Cliff @ Snow City and the Omni-Theatre. Be prepared to spend your whole afternoon there!
SINGAPORE BOTANIC GARDENS
If you enjoy the outdoors and nature, the UNESCO World Heritage site will have a three-day lineup of activities from 7th to 9th August, including a carnival featuring traditional games and crafts, as well as free concerts by local artistes 53A, Olivia Ong and The Sam Willows. Singaporeans and permanent residents can also enjoy free admission to the National Orchid Garden until 31st August.
TANJONG PAGAR RAILWAY STATION
For those who loves nostalgia, the former Tanjong Pagar Railway Station will be open to the public on National Day. There will be a old-school themed carnival, with bumper cars and a carousel, and you can also catch the National Day Parade “live” broadcast.
MUSEUM HOPPING
For the artsy fartsy in you, various museums, heritage galleries and visitor centres across Singapore will offer free entry to all visitors from 7th to 10th August. They include:

- Indian Heritage Centre
- Peranakan Museum
- Singapore Philatelic Museum
- Reflections at Bukit Chandu
- Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall
- Malay Heritage Centre

- Singapore City Gallery
- Marina Barrage Sustainable Singapore Gallery
- Newater Visitor Centre
There will also be free outdoor film screenings on the 8th and 9th August at the National Museum.
SPORTS HUB CARNIVAL
For those who want to be near the celebrations, Sports Hub will be hosting a carnival on 8th and 9th August. Visitors can try out different sports, watch a movie screening of Ah Boys to Men 3: Frogmen as well as live performances. The Sports Hub will also be showing the National Day Parade “live”.
SENTOSA
A variety of attractions at Sentosa will be free over the long weekend such as the Merlion and cable car. From 7th to 10th August, catch Sands of Time – a 100-metre long sand sculpture exhibition chronicling Singapore’s transformation into the thriving metropolis that it is today.
WATCH FIREWORKS
If all else fails and if you don’t mind the crowd, take a free train ride down to different spots near the floating platform to catch the annual fireworks display!
