Bella Brown is a reclusive young woman who has big dreams of becoming the next successful children’s book author. Alfie Stephenson is a cantankerous, rich old man who lives next door to Bella. Through a mutual albeit forced connection over a neglected backyard garden, Bella finds herself a surprising mentor in Alfie, who eventually helps her overcome her abandonment issues and all-consuming OCD in order to fulfill her dreams.
